A Voice So Unique

For the past five years, I have sat behind the walls of the National Parliament Chambers and listened to the many voices that represent our people. Among them all, there was one Voice that stood apart — a Voice so patriotic, so passionate, so inclusive, so Uniting, so deeply knowledgeable, and so sincere — born from the real struggles and experiences of our everyday people.

It was a Voice that did not need a chorus to be heard. One Voice was enough to move hearts, to shift minds, change decions and to remind us of what true leadership sounds like — leadership anchored in love for country and loyalty to people.

Thank you, God. And thank you, Morobe, for returning to our nation a Voice of the voiceless — a Voice that gave us a glimpse of what it truly means to serve with courage, conviction, and truth. And though that Voice has fallen silent on the eve of our nation’s 50th Independence Anniversary, its echo will live on in the conscience of Papua New Guineans.

Dear Lord, as we bid farewell to this Great Son of our land, the late Hon. Luther Wenge, may You bless this nation with more Voices like his — louder, stronger, more uniting, and ever true to the dreams of our forefathers.

Rest well, Songan. Your Voice will forever remain a beacon in our country’s journey.

A remarkable Aviator. Who would have thought a Female Captain would be responsible in flying her people's plane across continents and seas to her beloved home.

True inspiration, God appointed you in this time and era to shoulder this responsibility for the country.

Too good you are. Legend

✨🇵🇬 A True Trailblazer in PNG Aviation 🇵🇬✨

Meet Captain Beverley P**i, one of Papua New Guinea’s finest aviators and a true inspiration to many.

📍 From a mix parentage of Enga and Morobe, Captain P**i joined Air Niugini through its cadet pilot program and has gone on to achieve historic milestones for our nation. She became the first Papua New Guinean female pilot to command jet aircraft on the Fokker 70/100 fleet, breaking barriers and paving the way for more women in aviation.

In November 2024, she again made history by becoming the first Papua New Guinean certified as an Airbus A220 Captain, completing her training and type rating in Montreal, Canada. Today (15/09/2025), she proudly piloted Air Niugini’s very first A220, the “People’s Balus,” home to PNG, right on the eve of our country’s 50th Independence anniversary.

Her journey reflects dedication, skill, and determination. Captain Beverley P**i stands as a role model for young Papua New Guineans, showing that with hard work and passion, the sky is no limit. ✈️✨

Let’s celebrate and congratulate Captain P**i for her remarkable achievements, a true daughter of PNG flying our flag high! 🇵🇬👏

Congratulations to Hon. Powes Parkop, Governor of the National Capital District for recieving 50th Independence Anniversary King's Medal from Prince Edward the Duke of Edinburgh.

We proudly extend our sincere congratulations to Hon. Powes Parkop on being formally recognised for his Distinguished and Outstanding service to Papua New Guinea. This honour is a fitting acknowledgment of a lifetime of dedication to justice, equality, and the advancement of our nation.

Hon. Parkop’s journey in public service has been remarkable and inspiring. Beginning his career as a human rights lawyer, he fearlessly advocated for the protection of rights and freedoms, serving as a member of the human rights organisation Melanesian Solidarity (MELSOL) . He later served his country as lawyer of the PNG military during the Sandline crisis and contributed to the training and development of future legal professionals as a lecturer at the University of Papua New Guinea Law School.

For over two decades as Governor of the National Capital District, Hon. Parkop has worked tirelessly to transform Port Moresby into a modern, vibrant, and inclusive city. His leadership has seen the city become a centre of economic activity, cultural pride, and national identity.

In Parliament, Hon. Parkop has gone beyond the call of duty, championing causes that have far-reaching impacts on the wellbeing of Papua New Guineans. He is the driving force behind the establishment and continued leadership of:

1. The Permanent Parliamentary Committee on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment – ensuring women’s voices are heard and their participation in national development is strengthened.

2. The Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Children – focusing on policies that secure the future of our younger generation.

3. The PNG TB Caucus – leading efforts to fight tuberculosis and improve health outcomes for all Papua New Guineans.

These significant achievements highlight Hon. Parkop’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of our people, shaping the development of our capital city, and contributing to the progress of Papua New Guinea as a whole.

We sincerely thank Hon. Powes Parkop for his passion, commitment , and vision. His service has left an enduring mark on the nation, setting a strong foundation for future leaders and inspiring many to continue the work of building a just, modern, and prosperous Papua New Guinea.

Im humbled to have been part of his recognition working behind the scenes.

Thank you almighty God for your wisdom and direction . 🙏
