As social media continues to dominate public engagement, let us not forget the origins of thought-provoking mediums used in Papua New Guinea’s pre- and post-Independence era.

Activist plays staged through theatre brought together local audiences and expatriates alike—equally absorbing the message. The actors held the space, and when the performance ended, it often sparked heated debates and led to real social and political transformation.

Perhaps it’s time we return to these kinds of communication mediums.

Theatre can explore issues of leadership integrity and governance which weigh heavily on the national psyche in PNG, says Evengelyn and Rodney Kove.

We would like to extend our heartfelt grattitude to everyone who supported our first-ever Stage production between Kove Theatre and Resilient Peers. Despite the challenges along the way, we came out stronger and gave a great performance — with many first-timers on stage, backstage, and on lighting, guided by two veterans, Mr. Rodney Kove and Mr. Markham Galut of the former National Theatre Company.
A special thank you to all who bought tickets, shared our posts, and showed up for the show. And our heartfelt appreciation to our sponsors — Pascoe Productions for the K2,000 ticket sponsorship, and Mr. Dogimai Morris Tovebae from the Pangu Party Secretariat for the generous K5,000 support.
Each and Every one of your belief in this dream made it come alive. ❤️✨
Thank you Ninning, Theresa and Tamara and Talitha for the photos and videos
Let us continue to reimagine and tell our stories

“Every great nation begins with a story — and ours began with a conversation in the homes of visionary men and their families.

In just 14 days, The Bully Beef Club hits the stage.
Meet the man behind The Bully Beef Club Play, Mr. Kove — a theatre veteran who has dedicated his life to passing on ancestral wisdom and giving hope to young Papua New Guineans through the art of performance.

This 3-minute story takes you behind the scenes — where passion meets purpose, and a humble backyard becomes a stage for national reflection. 🇵🇬🎭
With a group of passionate, unemployed youths who’ve found hope and purpose through theatre. These young people are learning discipline, teamwork, and creativity.
We are grateful to Joyce Koiari from Legacy Images for your gift to capture stories that matter.
🎟️ Tickets are selling fast — don’t miss this powerful production that reminds us why we became a nation.

You’re not seeing things. That bird really is bathing in smoke. While we run from fire, some birds actually seek it out. They spread their wings over campfire smoke or roll in cold ashes — on purpose. It’s called smoke bathing, and it’s one of nature’s strangest survival hacks.

The smoke helps drive out mites, lice, and other parasites living in their feathers. Some even rub ants on their bodies instead — a behavior known as anting. Those ants release formic acid, a natural insecticide. No chemicals. No sprays. Just instinct and evolution.

But here’s what’s incredible — these birds didn’t read a manual or watch a tutorial. They learned by watching others. Passed down like knowledge from one generation to the next. Proof that intelligence doesn’t just belong to humans.
Sometimes nature solves problems with elegance we can’t even match. Maybe we should stop underestimating the wild — it’s been inventing solutions long before we even noticed.

Resilient Peers x Kove Theatre Arts 🎭 | Storytelling for Systemic Change

At Resilient Peers, we believe that true systemic change begins with collaboration built on trust — and that trust is born when we connect with those who share our values.

In Papua New Guinea, oral storytelling has always been at the heart of how we learn, share, and unite. That’s why we’ve partnered with Kove Theatre Arts to use theatre and drama as powerful tools to spark conversations, inspire solutions, and bridge generations.

Our collaboration began in 2022, when we co-hosted the 2nd Pillar of the Protected Area Policy 2014 discussions through the drama Conference of the Creation. Earlier this year, we joined forces again for the Protected Area Capacity Gap Assessment Multi-Stakeholder Workshop in Port Moresby with the theme “Reimagine Our Roles as Guardians.”

For the first time, Kove Theatre’s performers split into two creative groups — one staging a live drama, and the other producing the short film “Tugata” (meaning Introduction of Your Lineage in Binandere). The film, inspired by true events from Director Evengelyn Kove’s life, explores how traditional knowledge and identity shape our modern community responses.

Filmed by emerging filmmakers from Southern Cross, Tugata captivated the workshop audience and continues to spark meaningful dialogue. We plan to screen the film publicly soon once it’s vetted — so stay tuned! 🎬

This collaboration is a glimpse of what’s possible when young and elder Papua New Guineans come together — blending art, culture, and purpose to drive intergenerational change in real time.

✨ And yes — the same talented group of artists will be back on stage for the upcoming play “Bully Beef Club” at the Moresby Arts Theatre in two weeks! Don’t miss it!

It's been a learning journey for us especially in the private sector and the financial sector. Witnessing the launch of Green Finance Center on the 25 March 2024 gives us hope for all the local community based organisations and cooperatives especially working in the Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Change Space for a very long time, this an opportunity not to miss. The Green Finance Centre coordinated by Bank of PNG as the mandate for all Financial Institutions & banks is the way forward for sustainable financing. Its emerging so more Research, Education and Innovation will hopefully through this Centre reflect our Papua New Guinean approaches in financing. Kudos 👏 to Bank of PNG, CEFI, GGGI and all its partners not forgetting NZ government and French support. Let's be optimistic

🚀 Unlocking Creativity: My Journey with 7 Days of Design Thinking 🚀

Have you ever experienced that moment when ideas start flowing like a river after a week of interactions and reflections? For the past two Sundays, I've been on an exhilarating journey of discovery through design thinking.

Throughout the week, amidst the hustle and bustle of daily tasks, I make it a point to engage in meaningful interactions and dive deep into resource materials. But it's on the seventh day, when the chaos settles, that the magic truly happens.

🔍 Reflect, Digest, Iterate: Too often, we get caught up in the frenzy of service and daily chores, neglecting the crucial step of stepping back to reflect and digest. But on that seventh day, everything clicks into place. It's as if my brain has been silently connecting dots in the background, waiting for the opportune moment to reveal its masterpiece.

🎨 Mind Mapping: Armed with a pen and paper, I embark on the journey of mind mapping. Ideas flow effortlessly, weaving a tapestry of innovation and possibility. Each stroke of the pen is a revelation, each connection a spark of creativity.

🌟 The Power of Design Thinking: Through this process, I've come to appreciate the power of design thinking in unlocking creativity and driving innovation. It's not just a methodology; it's a mindset—a way of approaching problems and opportunities with curiosity, empathy, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

So here's to the seven days of design thinking—may they continue to inspire, ignite, and innovate. Let's keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible, one idea at a time. 💡✨
