DICT, Electoral Commission Discuss SevisWallet Use Case for Common Roll Enrollment
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) met with the PNG Electoral Commission last Friday to discuss how the newly launched SevisWallet App could support the country’s electoral processes, particularly Common Roll Enrollment.
The meeting followed the app’s public debut at the Digital Transformation Summit 2025 in Port Moresby last year.
DICT, led by Secretary Mr. Steven Matainaho, was keen to explore how the Electoral Commission could anchor a practical use case on the SevisWallet platform to enhance voter registration systems.
Secretary Matainaho said the two teams are assessing how SevisWallet could be used to host Common Roll Enrollment and potentially support a Digital Voter ID.
“We are discussing options for use of the SevisWallet App to host Common Roll Enrollment, and hosting of a possible Digital Voter ID,” Secretary Steven Matainaho stated.
The Electoral Commission team, headed by Acting Electoral Commissioner Ms. Margaret Vagi, expressed optimism about the new Digital Public Infrastructure and how both entities can collaborate moving forward.
Secretary Matainaho added that further updates will be provided as both teams continue refining the proposed digital integration in the coming weeks.
