What is EL Nino?

EL Nino is a natural climate pattern that occurs when the waters in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean become warmer than usual. This change can affect weather across the world, including Papua New Guinea.

During EL Nino event, many parts of PNG may experience:
✳️ Less rainfall
✳️ Hot temperatures
✳️ Drought
✳️ Water Shortages
✳️ Increased of bushfires

Understanding EL Nino helps families, farmers, schools, and communities prepare before its impact become severe.
