Emotional Intelligence: What is it?
Emotional intelligence (EI) is the capacity to control your own feelings as well as comprehend those of others. Emotional intelligence is comprised of five essential components:
1.self-awareness,
2.self-regulation,
3.motivation,
4.empathy, and
social skills.
Individuals who possess high emotional intelligence are able to recognize their own emotions, their meaning, and the ways in which they influence their conduct and, consequently, that of others. Other people's emotions are a little more difficult to "manage" because you have no control over their feelings or actions. However, if you can pinpoint the feelings that underlie their actions, you'll be able to better understand their motivations and how to engage with them.
