Understanding 10600 and 10700 LNB Settings
The correct LNB setting is essential for receiving satellite television channels. The values 10600 MHz (10.6 GHz) and 10700 MHz (10.7 GHz) refer to the LNBβs local oscillator frequency.
10600 MHz is commonly used as the high-band frequency in universal LNBs labelled 9750/10600. Its practical advantage is compatibility with receivers configured for this standard.
10700 MHz is used by certain service-specific LNBs, including some supplied for Digicel DTH. It works correctly when the decoder supports and uses the matching setting.
The limitation of both types is compatibility. An incorrect decoder setting can prevent channels from being received, even when the dish is correctly aligned. Changing the decoder setting does not change the LNBβs physical specification.
For the supplied models covered by Digicelβs Zhen DTH guide:
β’ Black LNB: 10600 MHz
β’ White LNB: 10700 MHz
Always confirm the βL.O.β marking on the LNB label, particularly when fitting a replacement. Colour alone is not a reliable guide across different brands.
Neither frequency automatically provides a stronger signal or better picture. Choose the correct specification for your equipment and configure it properly.
