God Always Has Better Plans for Us
BY ERICKA CELESTINO
GROWING UP IN THIS WORLD, we experience happiness, sadness, struggles, and achievements. We face challenges we never expected, and yet here we are, still standing as we continue in our service to the Almighty God.
I always keep in mind what we learn in our worship services, knowing that life is not about our personal plans, but God’s plans for us. Nothing that happens in our lives is in vain, because we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him.
When we plan, we always pray and seek His divine guidance. There are instances where, instead of reaching the immediate goal we strove for, we are redirected elsewhere first. Let us always remember that there is a purpose for everything that occurs in our lives.
Whenever I reflect on my journey, I truly believe that every experience was an answer to my prayers. When I was younger, I aspired to be a doctor. For this reason, I enrolled in a pre-medical program, Bachelor of Science in Biology, at New Era University after learning about the opening of its College of Medicine in 2014. Little did I know that dreaming about a career and taking steps toward it would unfold differently from what I expected. Through earnest prayer and guidance, I realized that the medical field was not the path meant for me.
While studying at New Era University, I was blessed to be part of Christian Era Broadcasting Service International (CEBSI), serving as an anchor for INC Radio and a host for INCTV. I learned invaluable lessons and honed my skills. What brought me true happiness was striving to be of help in any way I could—whether hosting shows, interviewing brethren and guests for inspiring stories, or translating INC original music. During my stay in the Philippines, I knew I wanted to use my skills and God-given talents to fulfill my duties and serve the Almighty God.
Due to family matters, I later moved back to Europe—specifically, to the United Kingdom. As the eldest among my siblings, I started working to support my family. During my first year in the UK, I knew I wanted to pursue higher education, choosing a course that would be of great use in serving the Church. After careful consideration and devotional prayers, I enrolled in law school at the University of Westminster in London.
I never imagined I would graduate from law school instead of medical school. When I was younger, becoming a lawyer was the last path I envisioned. But that is the beauty of seeing things in retrospect. The moment I enrolled and subsequently graduated, I was reminded that everything was according to God’s plan. Throughout my legal studies, my constant motivation was to dedicate this education to my service to God—a conviction I kept in my heart during challenging times.
As we are consistently taught in our worship services, let us keep these spiritual reminders in mind whenever we face life's uncertainties:
Always Pray and Keep the Faith
You may not understand initially why you are experiencing certain situations, but God’s purpose will be revealed in His perfect timing.
Remember Your Purpose
Always keep in mind why you are striving to achieve your goals. As long as your intent is pure and aligned with God’s teachings, He will always guide your path.
Use Your Talents to Inspire and Serve
Our Almighty God has blessed us with gifts and abilities, so let us not keep them to ourselves. Instead, let us share them with others, use them in performing our Church duties, and inspire our fellow brethren.
