With dengue cases still rising in Bacolod and across Negros Occidental, understanding how mosquitoes grow is the first step to stopping them. This short video from Jansen Pest Control Bacolod breaks down the mosquito life cycle and shows exactly how we target each stage to reduce dengue risk in homes, schools, and businesses.
🦟 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟰 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗔 𝗠𝗢𝗦𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗧𝗢 (𝗔𝗘𝗗𝗘𝗦 / 𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗨𝗘 𝗠𝗢𝗦𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗧𝗢)
All mosquitoes pass through four stages: egg → larva → pupa → adult, with the first three living in water.
Egg: Laid on the inner walls of water-holding containers (buckets, drums, tires, plant saucers). Eggs can survive dry periods and hatch when flooded.
Larva (“wriggler”): Lives in stagnant water, feeds and grows for about 4–10 days depending on temperature.
Pupa (“tumbler”): Non-feeding stage; develops into adult in 1–4 days.
Adult: Emerges from pupa, rests briefly, then flies. Female Aedes mosquitoes bite mainly in the early morning and late afternoon and can transmit dengue.
Under warm, rainy conditions, the full cycle from egg to adult can be completed in as little as 7–10 days.

Recent reports show hundreds of dengue cases in Bacolod City and multiple deaths across Negros Occidental this year, with barangays like Mansilingan and other urban areas posting high case counts. Health officials continue to urge residents to eliminate breeding sites, practice the 4Ts (Taob, Taktak, Tuyo, Takip), and support targeted fogging only in hotspot zones.
🛡️ HOW JANSEN PEST CONTROL TREATS MOSQUITOES (BY LIFE STAGE)
We don’t just spray adults—we interrupt the entire life cycle to reduce dengue risk long-term.
Egg & Larva Control:
Inspection and removal of stagnant water around your property (roof gutters, AC trays, drums, tires, plant saucers).
Application of larvicides in unavoidable water containers to kill larvae before they become adults.
Pupa & Adult Control:
Targeted residual spraying and thermal fogging in identified dengue hotspots and high-risk areas (under beds, dark corners, shrubs, perimeters).
Focus on Aedes resting sites indoors and outdoors to reduce biting pressure during peak hours.
Prevention & Education:
Guidance on the 4Ts of dengue prevention and simple weekly routines for households and barangays.
Recommendations for screens, covers, and drainage fixes to prevent re-infestation.
