10 Things I Learned After Graduation
1. Mag-build ng Emergency Fund.
Targetin ang 3-6 months ng living expenses para may financial cushion kapag nawalan ng income o may unexpected expenses.
2. Always save 20-30% of your salary.
Pay yourself first. Personally, I prefer passbook savings when starting out because mas mahirap galawin ang pera at mas disciplined ako sa pag-iipon.
3. Mag-side hustle habang may full-time corporate job.
Huwag umasa sa isang source of income lang. While you have a stable salary, start building another income stream.
4. Magkaroon ng accessible buffer fund.
Pwedeng ilagay ang short-term buffer sa high-interest digital banks like GoTyme or Maya. Small amounts still matter as long as accessible when you need them.
5. Consider opening a Pag-IBIG MP2 account for long-term investing.
May 5-year maturity period ito, and dividends depend on the fund's annual declared rate. Hindi guaranteed ang isang fixed rate every year, but it can be a good long-term option to consider.
6. Use Time Deposits for specific goals.
Kung may target kang travel fund, educational fund, moving-out fund, anniversary fund, or other goals, magandang ihiwalay at i-lock ang pera para hindi mo magastos accidentally.
7. Give every peso a purpose.
Hindi kailangang lahat ng savings nasa isang account. Pwedeng may separate buckets for emergency fund, investments, education, future home, business, and short-term goals.
8. Always keep learning.
Huwag isipin na dahil graduate ka na or may work experience ka na, alam mo na lahat. Stay teachable. Learn from your work, mistakes, courses, books, certifications, and from other people.
9. Learn to make simple things yourself.
Brew your own coffee and bring your own tumbler, especially when going out. Small habits can help you save money and avoid unnecessary spending.
10. Take care of your health while youβre young.
Eat healthy more vegetables and fruits, and okay lang ang rice basta in moderation. Make walking, running, or going to the gym part of your lifestyle. Your health is an investment, too.
