🐜 Silent Guardians of the Cacao Pod — The LAEC Way

While doing a VORADA field walk at Kinuskusan Farm, I noticed red ants patrolling a young cacao pod.

Not every insect we see is a pest. These ants may be beneficial allies, helping suppress cacao pests. Compare them with mirids—sap-suckers that can leave lesions and scars on pods.

This is why we use VORADA:

VISIT → OBSERVE → RECORD → ANALYZE → DECIDE → ACT

We don't see an insect and immediately recommend spraying. We first ask: Is it a pest, an ally, or simply part of the farm ecosystem?

Good farm decisions begin with observation—not assumptions.

This is one of the LAEC Ways: understand the farm before recommending an intervention.
