FACT CHECK | FIRE TRUCKS AND FIRE TRIKES: KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

Fire response vehicles come in different types and capacities, each designed to serve specific operational needs.

🚒 BFP Fire Trucks are procured and operated by the Bureau of Fire Protection, with varying capacities and capabilities depending on operational requirements.

🛺 LGU Fire Trikes, on the other hand, are initiatives of Local Government Units intended to augment and support BFP firefighters, particularly in communities where access and mobility may be challenging.

Understanding the difference helps promote accurate information and a better appreciation of how BFP and LGUs work together to enhance fire response and public safety.

💧🚒 BEFORE THE WATER RUNS LOW, WE KNOW WHERE TO TURN

“Preparedness means knowing where every drop can be found before the heat tests our community.”

In anticipation of the possible impacts of Super El Niño, SFO4 Romelo D Aguilar, Acting Municipal Fire Marshal, personally led the inspection and identification of fire hydrants and other available water sources within the municipality as part of the Barotac Nuevo Fire Station’s proactive measures to strengthen operational readiness.

The activity aims to assess the accessibility and availability of potential water sources that may support firefighting operations, especially during prolonged dry conditions when water supply may become increasingly critical.

More than an inspection, this initiative reflects foresight in action. By identifying resources before they are urgently needed, the station strengthens its ability to respond when every minute, every decision, and every drop of water matters.

This undertaking supports the continuing thrust of FCSUPT WILBERTO RICO NEIL A KWAN TIU, DSC, OIC, BFP, under the leadership of FCSUPT EDWIN P VARGAS, DSC, Regional Director, BFP Region 6, and with the guidance of FSUPT MELANIE G HABAWEL, DSC, Acting Provincial Fire Marshal, toward stronger disaster preparedness and resilient communities.

💧 We do not wait for the wells to run low or the flames to rise. We identify. We prepare. We stay ready.

🚒 READY BEFORE THE ALARM: KEEPING OUR WHEELS OF SERVICE MISSION-READY

“Before a fire truck can race toward an emergency, someone must first make certain that it is ready to answer the call.”

Preparedness is built not only through training, but also through the careful attention given to the equipment that carries firefighters into every mission.

Demonstrating hands-on leadership and commitment to operational readiness, SFO4 Romelo D Aguilar, Acting Municipal Fire Marshal, took the initiative in overseeing and conducting the repair, inspection, and maintenance of the station’s fire truck, ensuring that the apparatus remains dependable and ready for emergency operations.

Every engine checked, every component maintained, and every necessary repair completed is part of a greater responsibility—to ensure that when the alarm sounds, there will be no hesitation, no unnecessary delay, and no compromise in the delivery of service.

This initiative supports the continuing thrust of FCSUPT WILBERTO RICO NEIL A KWAN TIU, DSC, OIC, BFP, under the leadership of FCSUPT EDWIN P VARGAS, DSC, Regional Director, BFP Region 6, and with the guidance of FSUPT MELANIE G HABAWEL, DSC, Acting Provincial Fire Marshal, toward maintaining a capable, responsive, and operationally ready fire service.

🚒 Because readiness begins in the station—long before the siren breaks the silence.

🔥☀️ AHEAD OF THE HEAT: PREPARING TODAY FOR SUPER EL NIÑO

“Preparedness is not measured by how we respond when disaster arrives, but by how early we act before its first signs are felt.”

Taking proactive steps toward community preparedness, SFO4 Romelo D Aguilar, Acting Municipal Fire Marshal of Barotac Nuevo Fire Station, personally visited the Dumangas-Barotac Nuevo Water District and met with General Manager Engr. Remus P. Baraganza to discuss preparations, anticipated concerns, and possible measures in view of the threat of Super El Niño.

Recognizing that prolonged extreme heat and dry conditions may place greater pressure on water resources and heighten fire-related risks, SFO4 Aguilar initiated the coordination to strengthen communication and ensure that concerns affecting firefighting water supply and emergency preparedness are addressed as early as possible.

The initiative reflects a leadership that chooses foresight over reaction—reaching out, building partnerships, and preparing resources before circumstances become critical. Because when the land grows dry and water becomes more precious, preparedness must begin long before the first flame appears.

This effort supports the continuing thrust of FCSUPT WILBERTO RICO NEIL A KWAN TIU, DSC, OIC, BFP, under the leadership of FCSUPT EDWIN P VARGAS, DSC, Regional Director, BFP Region 6, and with the guidance of FSUPT MELANIE G HABAWEL, DSC, Acting Provincial Fire Marshal, toward resilient communities and strengthened inter-agency cooperation.

💧🔥 Before the heat intensifies, we coordinate. Before water becomes scarce, we prepare. Before the alarm sounds, we act.
