DTI and LGU-Baybay Successfully Conduct Consumer and Retailers Forum.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Consumer Protection Division, in cooperation with the Local Government Unit of Baybay and Negosyo Center Baybay, successfully conducted the Consumer and Retailers Forum at 4th Floor Training Room New Baybay City Hall Brgy. Gaas Baybay City, Leyte. bringing together consumers and retailers to promote awareness of consumer rights, responsibilities, product quality and safety standards.
The morning session, the Consumers Forum, was attended by 35 participants The activity commenced with a welcome address from City Vice Mayor Atty. Ernesto M. Butawan. The forum highlighted key topics on Consumer Rights, the Consumer Act of the Philippines, Product Quality and Safety Provisions, presented by Ms. Ryajane Repalda, STIDS. The discussion emphasized the importance of informed consumer decision-making and the protection of consumer welfare.
In the afternoon, the Retailers Forum gathered 36 retailers/business establishments representatives Participants were warmly welcomed by City Vice Mayor Atty. Ernesto M. Butawan Officer-in-Charge the session featured a presentation on the Consumer Act of the Philippines and Product Quality and Safety Provisions delivered by Consumer Protection Division Chief Anna Eunice A. Baylen of DTI Leyte Provincial Office the discussion underscored the responsibilities of retailers in ensuring compliance with consumer protection laws and maintaining product quality and safety standards.
Through this initiative, DTI and LGU-Baybay reaffirm their commitment to fostering a fair, safe, and competitive marketplace by empowering both consumers and retailers with the knowledge necessary to uphold consumer welfare and responsible business practices.
