JOVELYN CEBE/MOMO CABALLERO, ang dati naming kasambahay na nagtrabaho sa amin ng humigit-kumulang limang buwan, ngunit matapos nito ay nagnakaw ng pera at tumakas.

Maayos siyang nagtatrabaho at pinahiram pa namin siya ng halos humigit-kumulang ₱27,070 dahil sa mga sinasabing emergency sa kanyang pamilya. Naawa kami sa kanya nang sabihin niya sa amin na siya ang pangunahing nagtataguyod sa kanilang pamilya, kasama na ang kanyang walong anak. Marami silang utang at ang kanyang asawa ay lulong sa alak.

Tinrato namin siya nang maayos, pati na sa pagkain, lagi kaming sabay-sabay kumakain tuwing gabi. Nakikiramay kami sa kanyang mga kwento at tumulong kami hangga't kaya namin, dahil ako mismo ay nasisiyahan sa kanyang trabaho at pinakikitang kabaitan.

Noong September 25, 2024, bandang 6:45 AM, matapos ihatid ng aming driver ang mga bata sa school, kadalasan ay naglalakad siya pauwi, ngunit sa pagkakataong ito, hindi siya bumalik. Sinubukan naming tawagan siya, ngunit hindi siya ma-contact. Dahil dito, tinawagan namin ang faculty at mga g**o sa eskwelahan upang tiyakin na ligtas ang aming anak, na sa kabutihang palad ay maayos naman sa eskwelahan.

Matapos ang ilang oras ng pagsubok na makontak siya nang walang tagumpay, nagsimula kaming mag-alala na baka may nangyari sa kanya, lalo na’t madalas siyang gumawa ng mga video log habang pauwi mula sa eskwela. Akala namin ay baka na-snatch ang kanyang telepono. Ngunit nang magtanghali, wala pa rin siya, kaya’t nagsimula kaming maghinala na naglayas na siya.

Nang tingnan namin ang kanyang kwarto, napansin namin na lahat ng kanyang gamit ay nandun pa rin, kaya lalo kaming nag-alala. Gayunpaman, nang tingnan namin ang aming mga gamit, napansin ng aking asawa na ang isang sobre na karaniwan niyang inilalagay sa isang drawer na may kandado ay nasa ibabaw ng kanyang mesa. Maaaring nakalimutan niyang ibalik ito sa drawer noong may hinahanap siya na isang bagay ilang araw na ang nakaraan. Ang sobre, na dati’y may lamang pera, ay naroon pa rin ngunit wala na ang laman.

Ito ang nagpaliwanag kung bakit iniwan niya ang lahat at tumakas—dahil nakakuha siya ng significant na halaga ng pera. Sinubukan naming kontakin siya sa pamamagitan ng Facebook Messenger, ngunit sa kasamaang-palad, nalaman naming naka-block na kami.

Hindi namin akalain na magiging ganito siya kawalang utang na loob. Ayon sa isa naming staff, nakita siya sa Facebook live na nag shopping noong hapon. Nang tanungin siya, sinabi niyang umalis siya dahil hindi na niya matiis ang ugali ng aming 9 na taong gulang na anak. Napakasakit nito para sa amin, lalo na’t siya mismo ay may walong anak, at alam ng Diyos na sobrang maayos ang pakikitungo namin sa kanya.

Kung ang aming kasambahay ay walang kasalanan at nais niyang linisin ang kanyang pangalan, hinihikayat namin siyang humarap sa amin at makipagkita sa aming lokal na barangay. JOVELYN CEBE/MOMO CABALLERO, our former kasambahay who worked for us for around five months and then stole money from us before running away.

She performed her tasks well, and we even lent her approximately a total of ₱27,070 as of this September, due to many emergencies she claimed to have within her family. We felt sorry for her when she told us she was the primary provider for her family, including her eight children, they have lots of Utang while her husband struggled with alcoholism.

We treated her very well, even sharing the same food and eating together at night. We sympathized with her stories and helped her as much as we could, as I was very pleased with her work and kindness she is showing us.

On September 25, 2024 around 6:45 AM, after our driver dropped off the children at school, she usually walked back home, but this time, she did not return. We tried to contact her, but her phone was unreachable. Concerned, we called the school faculty and teachers to check on our child, who, thankfully, was safe at school.

After several hours of trying to reach her without success, we started to worry that something might have happened, especially since she often made video logs on her way back from school. We thought perhaps her phone had been stolen. But by noon, she still had not returned, and we began to suspect she had run away.

Upon checking her room, we noticed that all of her belongings were intact, which added to our concern. However, later, when we reviewed our belongings, my husband noticed an envelope that he usually keeps locked away in a drawer lying near his desk. My husband may have carelessly left it outside the drawer when he was looking for something in the drawer few days ago. The envelope, which had previously contained a sum of money, was still there but had been emptied.

This explained why she left everything behind and ran away—because she had taken a significant amount of money. We attempted to contact her through Facebook Messenger, but unfortunately, we discovered she had blocked us.

We never imagined she would be so ungrateful. According to one of our staff, she was on facebook live shopping that afternoon, when ask she claimed she left because she could no longer tolerate our 9-year-old child's behavior. This was particularly hurtful, as she has eight children of her own, and God knows we treated her exceptionally well.
