ADSSU Recognized as ITSO Platinum Awardee for the 3rd Time for Intellectual Property Excellence
Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) has once again demonstrated its commitment to innovation and excellence after being recognized as a Platinum Awardee under the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) program of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines.
The recognition, the highest distinction for institutions excelling in intellectual property (IP) creation, protection, and commercialization, highlights ADSSUโs strong patent performance, active support for innovation and research, and effective ITSO management.
The award was formally conferred today, March 25, 2026, in Iloilo City, where ADSSU also received a Special Citation Award for filing patent applications, further underscoring its commitment to innovation and IP protection.
The achievement is anchored on the leadership of Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, University President, and the guidance of Dr. Ferdinand A. Dumalagan, Vice President for Research, Innovation Development and Extension Affairs, whose combined efforts continue to strengthen the Universityโs research and innovation ecosystem.
This milestone highlights the collective efforts of individuals and offices who have strengthened the Universityโs intellectual property system. Among them are Dindo O. Dumali, IP Rights Specialist IV of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL); Adrian H. Sablan, Chief of the Intellectual Property Management and Technology Transfer Division; and Engr. Chamlette Garcia, Director III of the Documentation, Information and Technology Transfer Bureau.
The institution also acknowledges Engr. Jack O. Bertulfo, former Director of the Innovation and Development Office, along with Ms. Jacky Lyn B. Maestrado, IP Education Head, and Engr. Cyrus Jay Galendez, IP Technology Transfer Head, for their significant contributions. The researchers, inventors, and the entire ASSCAT community and stakeholders likewise played a vital role in this achievement.
This recognition aligns with the Universityโs contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), by strengthening research, innovation, and knowledge creation.
With this achievement, ADSSU continues to position itself as a hub for research and innovation, committed to transforming ideas into meaningful contributions to national development.
