UNDERSTANDING SOLAR EXPORT:
Net-Metering Limit:
The Net-Metering program, which allows customers to offset their electricity bills with excess energy, is capped at 100kW.
Zero-Export Program:
Solar installations above 100kW are part of the Zero-Export program, meaning they cannot export excess energy back to the grid.
Feed-in Tariff (FIT):
For large-scale renewable energy projects (like those above 100kW), the FIT program provides a guaranteed price for the electricity generated and delivered to the grid.
Distributed Energy Resources (DER):
Meralco offers programs for DERs, which can include renewable energy sources for on-grid and off-grid systems, with capacity limits of up to 1MW for some DERs.
Eligibility for Net-Metering:
To participate in the Net-Metering Program, customers must have a renewable energy system with a capacity of up to 100 kW, connected to the distribution grid.
Net-Metering Benefits:
Net-metering allows customers to offset their electricity bills by feeding excess energy back into the grid, with the excess energy credited to their bill.
FIT Benefits:
FIT provides a guaranteed price for the electricity generated and delivered to the grid, making it an attractive option for large-scale renewable energy projects.
