Being helpful at work feels good, until people start treating your availability like part of your job description.

It begins with small things. You answer a message after working hours. You accept a last-minute request because someone needs help. You take on an extra task because you know you can finish it. At first, people appreciate it.

Then something quietly changes. The favor becomes familiar. The extra effort becomes normal.
