MECHANICS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
REGION 10 PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

CONTEST THEME
The Environmental Management Bureau Region 10 (EMB-10) Photography Competition will adopt the theme: “ENVIRONMENTAL AND CLIMATE LITERACY TO GENDER EQUALITY”.

Entries must strictly adhere to the theme and should showcase women’s leadership, skills and knowledge on climate change prevention that would inspire change across the region and lead to more gender-sensitive strategies and policies that would benefit men and women in the society.

Participants should submit photos and images taken anywhere in Region 10 and depicts only positive things or images.

CONTEST DURATION
EMB-10 will accept entries from April 6, 2017 until April 20, 2017 only.

WHO CAN JOIN
• Participants must be at least 15 years old to 25 years old.
• The contest is open to all Filipino nationals.
• EMB-10 Personnel and their relatives up to 3rd degree of consanguinity and affinity are disqualified from joining this contest.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES
1.) Each participant is allowed to submit ONE ENTRY ONLY.
2.) The Entry to be submitted must be in full color. Photos in Black and White or Sepia are not allowed.
3.) The entry to be submitted should be an image/photo with the corresponding:
“Photo title” and “Photo caption”. The caption must indicate the place, time and date the image was taken, and a short description of what the photo is about.
4.) Entries must be e-mailed to [email protected] bearing the subject: EMB-10 Photography Contest, together with the contestant’s basic information (name/institution/address/contact number).
5.) Participants will be required to send a scanned copy of any valid/government-issued ID in JPEG.

PHOTO/IMAGE REQUIREMENTS
1.) Photographs should be in digital format/file.
2.) Photographs to be submitted should have no watermark. There should be no identifying mark on the images to eliminate any bias during the screening and judging of the submitted photos.
3.) At least 11.693x16.535 inches in size(A3) and at least 72 dpi in resolution, in JPEG format, (IMAGE SHOULD BE IN LANDSCAPE). Submit the file in this format: Filename is your name and artwork title. Example: juandelacruz_photo.jpeg
4.) Photographs to be submitted should have been taken anywhere from January 2017 to April 20, 2017.
5.) The following photographs or images are disqualified:
• Photographs that have been previously submitted or have won in any local or international photography contest.
• Photographs that violate a person’s rights including, but not limited to copyright and privacy.
• Photographs that contain obscene, sexually explicit, offensive or any other objectionable or inappropriate content.
• Photographs bearing images of public officials.
• Digitally enhanced or altered for creative purposes. Altered images refer to photographs manipulated and applied with special effects (colorizing, toning, collage, photo composites, stitched panoramas, high dynamic range or HDR images, etc.). Only minor adjustments are acceptable such as the color, sharpness and contrast.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING
1.) Relevance to the Theme (How well the photo interprets the theme): 30%
2.) Creativity (How the photographer showed some creative thoughts. How the subject matter is pictured in a unique and interesting way): 25%
3.) Technique (Use of elements of photography. Whether the photo showed balance in light, focus, depth of field, etc.): 25%
4.) Overall impact (Whether the photo was able to grab and hold the viewers’ attention. Is there a “wow” factor): 20% with a total of 100%

SCREENING OF ENTRIES/PHOTOGRAPHS
Screening of entries shall be judged by a panel composed of representatives from partner organizations. The panel of judges will initially determine the top ten (10) entries/photographs based on the criteria. The First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize winners will be chosen from the top ten (10) entries/photographs.

PRIZES AT STAKE
• First Prize: Cash Prize of Six Thousand Pesos (P6, 000.00) and a framed Certificate
• Second Prize: Cash Prize of Three Thousand Pesos (P3,000.00) and a framed Certificate.
• Third Prize: Cash Prize of Two Thousand Pesos (P2,000.00) and a framed Certificate.
• Consolation Prize: Token courtesy of Racini and a framed Certificate.
Winning photos will be used for various publications and various materials of GAD-EMB 10.

AWARDING OF PRIZES
Awarding of winners will be on April 22, 2017 (specific date and place to be announced) during the Alay-Lakad in celebration of 2017 Earth Day.
