Millennial managers are changing the way we work. 👀
And this isn’t just a feeling, there’s data behind it.
According to Glassdoor’s 2025 Worklife Trends report, Millennials became the largest share of managers in the U.S. workforce, overtaking Gen X for the first time.
ManpowerGroup also reported that 60% of Millennials in its cited data are managers with at least one direct report.
So what does this mean for the workplace?
Millennial managers are helping shape a new approach to leadership, one that puts more focus on:
💬 Open communication
🌱 Coaching and growth
🧠 Employee well-being
🤝 Collaboration
🎯 And yes, accountability too
But being a “modern manager” isn’t just about being the cool or approachable boss.
It’s about knowing when to listen, support, challenge, and lead.
With Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z now working side by side, effective leadership means learning how to work with different expectations and perspectives.
The workplace is changing. Great leaders need to change with it.
