Pahingalay can be broken down into pahinga (to rest), hinga (to breathe), and alay (to offer). It is when the spirit, mind, and body become one through mindfulness and a deep state of restfulness; when one dives into his/her innermost self and just be. Amidst our vocation as healthcare providers to respond to the call and cry of humanity, we can practice self-care by reminding ourselves of what makes us feel human, whole, and present. Let us allow ourselves to be energized and sustained. And as we heal ourselves, we can be more prepared to heal and serve others.
