Kafugan Mining Incorporated carried out a Verbal Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign for residents of Puroks 1-4 of Barangay Pantukan at their Barangay Hall located in Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

The activity brought together residents of all ages, providing an inclusive platform for community members to receive important updates on the company’s operations, environmental protection initiatives, safety programs, and community development efforts. Participants were also given the opportunity to raise concerns, ask questions, and share feedback through an open discussion with KMI representatives.

KMI promotes transparency, foster meaningful dialogue, and strengthen its partnership with host communities, ensuring that residents regardless of age—remain informed, engaged, and actively involved in matters affecting their community and the environment.

Kafugan Mining Incorporated warmly welcomed the Multipartite Monitoring Team (MMT) of Holcim Philippines Manufacturing Corporation (HPMC) for benchmarking activity held on May 28, 2026, at the KMI Campsite and Project Sites in Adlay, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

The activity was attended by KMI-MMT Chairperson Engr. Rex Lorraine Pagasian, Monitoring Officer of MGB Caraga, HPMC-MMT Chairperson Ms. Genevie Pinton, together with the HPMC-MMT members and KMI personnel.

HPMC is one of the premier cement manufacturers in the country based in Lugait, Misamis Oriental visited KMI as part of its initiative to strengthen collaboration and exchange valuable insights and best practices in environmental stewardship, community development, occupational safety and health, and responsible operations.

This served as a meaningful platform for mutual learning, partnership building, and promoting sustainable and responsible industry practices.

As part of its continuing commitment to promoting a healthy, safe, and sanitary work environment, Kafugan Mining Incorporated facilitated a Food Safety and Industrial Hygiene Seminar spearheaded by the Safety and Health Department in collaboration with the Municipal Health Office of Carrascal last May 23, 2026, held at the KMI Conference Room, Adlay, Surigao del Sur.

The seminar gathered three (3) representatives from KMI and each contractor, specifically from the administrative, kitchen personnel, and safety and health staff, to strengthen awareness and understanding on proper food handling, sanitation practices, and workplace hygiene standards.

Resource speakers from the Municipal Health Office shared valuable insights and practical discussions during the activity, including Ronel Y. Correos, Sanitary Inspector; Caroline M. Galela, RND, CPHCF, Nutritionist; and Quirino O. Liquido III, R.N., Nurse II.

The activity highlighted the importance of maintaining food safety and proper industrial hygiene practices in preventing health risks and ensuring the well-being of employees and personnel within the workplace.

Kafugan Mining Incorporated completed the 1st Quarter Multi-Partite Monitoring Team (MMT) Inspection held on May 20–22, 2026, across the KMI Project Sites in Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

Three-day inspection sought to assess the company’s compliance with Safety and Health, Environmental Protection, and Social Development and Management Programs, in line with existing mining laws, rules, and regulations.

MMT members participated in collaborative discussions and comprehensive site evaluations alongside KMI representatives, focusing on operational performance, key observations, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

The minor findings identified during the inspection were positively acknowledged by KMI and will serve as valuable guidance in further strengthening operational standards, environmental stewardship, and community engagement initiatives.

As part of its commitment to strengthen emergency preparedness, Kafugan Mining Incorporated together with the Bureau of Fire Protection - Carrascal successfully held Firefighting and Fire Truck Operations Training on May 19, 2026, in Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

The training was conducted following the acquisition of the company’s fire truck, aimed at strengthening KMI’s emergency response capability, particularly in managing fire-related incidents within operational areas.

Members of the company’s Fire Brigade Team underwent lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and practical exercises focused on the proper handling, operation, and basic maintenance of the fire truck and its firefighting equipment. The activity also reinforced safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and the vital roles and responsibilities of Fire Brigade personnel during fire emergencies.

As part of its continuous commitment to strengthen information dissemination and enhance community engagement, Kafugan Mining Incorporated rolled out its Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Verbal Communication Campaign for residents of Purok 1–4 that took place last May 16, 2026, at Adlay Multipurpose Hall, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

The initiative aims to empower community members by providing clear, accessible, and relevant information aligned with KMI’s mission, programs, and development initiatives. It likewise promotes awareness on responsible and sustainable mining practices, community development efforts, environmental stewardship initiatives, occupational safety and health programs, and other available company services.

IEC campaign is designed to be implemented across all puroks, sectors, and scholar beneficiaries within KMI’s host communities, ensuring inclusive participation and fostering continuous dialogue between the company and its stakeholders.

KMI extends its sincere appreciation to the residents of Purok 1–4 for their active participation and valuable time during the activity. Their engagement further strengthens the company’s drive to uphold transparency, reinforce community partnership, and sustain socio-economic development through meaningful and informed participation.

In its continued support for religious and values-oriented educational initiatives within the community, Kafugan Mining Incorporated extended its assistance to the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) Vacation Church School 2026 with the theme: “Ako ay Kawangis ng Diyos,” held on May 16, 2026, at Baybay, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

The activity aimed to nurture the spiritual growth, moral values, and character development of children through faith-based learning, interactive activities, and fellowship sessions. Kafugan Mining Incorporated successfully undertook the Turnover and Project Acceptance of the Waterline Source Installation Project for the Adlay Integrated System Farmers’ Cooperative (ADISFAMCO) on May 15, 2026, at the Adlay Water Source, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

The project was implemented under the 2026 Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) of KMI, aimed at supporting sustainable livelihood initiatives and improving water accessibility for partner communities.

This successful implementation and turnover of the project was made possible through the collective support and cooperation of ADISFAMCO officials, members, beneficiaries, partner stakeholders, the Barangay Local Government Unit of Adlay, and KMI reflecting a shared commitment toward community development and sustainable livelihood initiatives.

For 36 years, ADISFAMCO has remained steadfast in serving its 106 active members, continuously working together to create better opportunities and improve the quality of life of its community. The newly installed 1.10-kilometer waterline provides improved access to water for fishpond operations and agricultural activities, helping ease the daily challenges faced by farmers and their families.

Beyond improving water accessibility, the project is expected to further support and strengthen livelihood opportunities for the beneficiaries.
