For Kafugan Mining Incorporated, responsible mining means building trust through open communication, accessible information, and meaningful engagement with the communities we serve.

To strengthen this commitment, KMI humbly established Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Centers and Community Hubs in strategic locations, including the KMI Campsite, Mine View Deck, and Barangay Halls of Adlay and Pantukan, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

These spaces serve as accessible information points where community members, employees, stakeholders, and visitors can freely learn more about KMI and its operations. Each IEC Center and Community Hub is equipped with a television showcasing company AVPs, as well as an IEC Kiosk featuring the KMI IEC WebApp, brochures, flyers, magazines, forms, and quarterly reports from the Tenement Compliance Division. More than just information boards or display areas, these hubs provide a convenient avenue for people to see, understand, and engage with information about the company, its programs, commitments, and compliance initiatives.

At KMI, transparency is not simply about sharing information; it is about making information accessible, understandable, and meaningful to the people we serve.

Kafugan Mining Incorporated marked the completion of the 320-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program of six (6) Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering students from Caraga State University – Main Campus on August 13, 2026, at KMI Conference Room in Adlay, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

The culminating activity highlighted the students’ progress throughout their training as they shared key takeaways and insights from their exposure to the mining industry. Their learning was further assessed through an examination and presentation, allowing them to demonstrate their understanding and application of concepts gained during their time at KMI.

The activity brought together KMI employees spearheaded by Resident Manager Engr. Joseph Emmanuel Z. Lagan and the participating CSU Main students—Benjo Amaneo, John Myko Burbano, Mark Louide Manalo, Danilo Baldos, Rv Clyd Camasura, and Aljone Aj Joyo—as they marked an important milestone in their professional preparation.

Kafugan Mining Incorporated successfully culminated the 240-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program of three students from the University of the Philippines – Diliman on August 11, 2026, at the KMI Conference Room in Adlay, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

The culmination activity provided an opportunity for the OJTs to present and reflect on their experiences, learnings, and insights gained throughout their training at KMI. As part of the assessment, the OJTs underwent an examination and presentation to demonstrate the knowledge and practical skills they acquired during their immersion in the mining industry.

The said activity was attended by KMI employees led by Resident Manager Engr. Joseph Emmanuel Z. Lagan, together with UP Diliman students pursuing Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering namely Gio Rebs L. Boncocan, Ryle Richter Busalpa, and Estelle Nicole L. Alave.

KMI recognizes the value of industry-academe collaboration in developing competent, responsible, and future-ready mining professionals. May this experience serve as a strong foundation as you pursue your professional careers and contribute to the future of the mining industry.

Through its Social Development and Management Program, Kafugan Mining Incorporated completed a ₱4 million Grade 12 Senior High School building in Barangay Pantukan, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

Serving 421 students, including 94% Mamawa and Manobo Indigenous learners, the project provides a conducive learning environment and reflects the industry's continuing commitment to expanding educational opportunities in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas.

As the culminating activity of the 2026 National Disaster Resilience Month, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) of Kafugan Mining Incorporated actively attended in the 2nd Municipal Rescue Summit and Group Exercise on July 31, 2026, held at Covered Court, Baybay, Carrascal.

This event was organized by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Carrascal. The event gathered the municipality’s 14 barangays, partner agencies, and private sector stakeholders to strengthen emergency response capabilities through collaborative learning, rescue exercises, and team competitions.

The company reaffirmed its support for initiatives that promote disaster resilience by deploying its ERT members and participating in the said event. The exhibit aimed to encourage communities to invest in modern rescue capabilities while fostering collaboration among responders from both the public and private sectors.

Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to promoting a strong culture of safety and resilience, Kafugan Mining Incorporated proudly clinched 1st Runner-Up in the Safety and Health Vlogging Contest during the Safety and Health Capacity Building and Culmination Program organized by the Caraga Mine Safety and Health Council, Inc. (CMSHC), in coordination with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office XIII (MGB RO XIII), held on July 31, 2026, at the Philippine Gateway Hotel.

The program, which culminated the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month 2026, carried the theme: “Strengthening Competence, Building Resilience: Empowering Safer Mining Communities.” It brought together mining companies, safety practitioners, and industry stakeholders to strengthen capacities in disaster resilience, emergency preparedness, occupational safety and health, and the sharing of best practices across the mining sector.

This recognition reflects KMI’s continued pursuit of excellence in safety communication and its steadfast commitment to promoting safe, healthy, and resilient mining communities.

As part of its continuing commitment to responsible mining and meaningful stakeholder engagement, Kafugan Mining Incorporated convened its 2nd Quarter Representatives of Host and Neighboring Communities (RHNC) Meeting on June 30, 2026, at KMI Conference Room, Adlay, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

The quarterly meeting brought together representatives from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Caraga, Local Government Unit (LGU) of Carrascal, Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs) of Adlay and Pantukan, religious sector, and KMI personnel. This gathering served as a collaborative platform to strengthen partnerships, discuss community-related initiatives, and reinforce shared commitments toward sustainable development.

KMI continues to uphold transparency, accountability, and responsible mining practices that create lasting value for its host and neighboring communities.
