The STEP UP (Startup-Tailored Empowerment and People-Focused Upskilling Project) Demo Day marked the successful culmination of a three-month startup development journey in Cebu, Bohol, and Negros Oriental, as 17 promising startups showcased their innovations at the SM Seaside City Cebu – Seaview Wing Atrium on December 13, 2025.

To the founders and student innovators who answered the call to innovate and challenge the status quo: we’re proud of you. This is only the start of your runway—keep building, keep validating, keep going.

The Development and Acceleration Support for Innovation Growth (DASIG) Consortium recently held its Pre-Strategic Planning Session under the Regional Startup Enablers for Ecosystem Development (ReSEED) Program, bringing together key ecosystem leaders to align, collaborate, and prepare for the January 19 DASIG Planning Session.

The meeting focused on aligning members on DASIG’s goals, gathering inputs, and identifying key challenges and opportunities for building a vibrant startup ecosystem in Region 7.

The consortium is composed of DOST-PCIEERD–supported Technology Business Incubators (TBIs): CIT-U Wildcat Innovation Lab, UP Cebu inIT, and Balik sa Bohol TBI, working together to empower innovators and support sustainable, inclusive startup growth across Central Visayas.

A stronger, more connected startup ecosystem for Region 7 is now taking shape.

Among the distinguished participants were Dr. Tristan L. Abando, Regional Director of DOST-7, who reaffirmed the government’s support for innovation-driven regional development, and Dr. Michael Abundo, a renowned green and blue techno-preneur specializing in marine renewable energy and sustainable blue economy solutions, whose work spans small island developing states and tropical innovation ecosystems.

Also in attendance were Asst. Prof. Janice Antoniette Forster and Mr. Neil Anthony Malijan of Silliman University’s SInergy Technology Business Incubator (TBI); Mr. Ralph Laviste and Mr. Jurydel Rama of the CIT-U Wildcat Innovation Lab; Dr. Maria Donna Buates of Balik sa Bohol TBI; and Mr. Jason Nieva of UP Cebu inIT. Representing DOST-7 were Mr. Rino Dominic Cabungcal and Ms. Patrice Ho, who supported the consortium’s coordination and planning efforts.

The consortium is composed of DOST-PCIEERD–supported Technology Business Incubators (TBIs): Silliman University's SInergy TBI, CIT-U Wildcat Innovation Lab, UP Cebu inIT, and Bohol Island University's Balik sa Bohol TBI, working together to empower innovators and support sustainable, inclusive startup growth across Central Visayas.

Proud to share this milestone for our region’s founders!

STEP UP maDASIGon Demo Day wrapped up a 3-month startup journey across Cebu, Bohol, and Negros Oriental—bringing 17 startups to the public showcase at SM Seaside (Seaview Wing Atrium) last Dec 13, 2025. From booth demos and real-world customer feedback to the pitching session, it was a full day of validation, learning, and momentum.

Congrats to all graduating teams—special shoutout to Farmyra, PixCell, and Stathis for Best Pitching Presentation! 👏 Thank you as well to our mentors, speakers, and partners from DICT, DTI, and the ecosystem for backing our innovators.

Led by the visionary Christian Barral, SKloud is revolutionizing how Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councils operate—making governance smarter, faster, and more transparent. From digital financial management to community engagement and performance tracking, SKloud empowers young leaders to lead with data and real impact.

The Startup Grant Fund, provided by the Department of Science and Technology – PCIEERD, offers up to PHP 5 million to support early-stage startups tackling real-world challenges through R&D and innovation. And SKloud is doing just that—bringing civic tech to the forefront of youth governance.
