LOOK | April 2026 Inflation Report

The Philippines’ headline or overall inflation increased to 7.2 percent in April 2026 from 4.1 percent in March 2026. This brings the average inflation rate from January to April 2026 to 3.9 percent. In April 2025, the inflation rate was observed at 1.4 percent.

𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐍: Ayon sa ulat ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) ngayong ikalima ng Mayo, tumaas ang headline inflation rate sa 7.2% noong Abril 2026 mula sa 4.1% noong nakaraang buwan. Dahil dito, umabot sa 3.9% ang year-to-date inflation rate.

Ang pagtaas ng inflation ay dulot ng mas mabilis na pagtaas ng presyo ng mga non-food at food items. Ang non-food inflation ay tumaas sa 8.2% noong Abril 2026 mula sa 4.9%. Ito ay bunsod ng matinding pagtaas sa operating costs ng mga pribadong transportasyon na umabot sa 65.8% mula 31.4%, gayundin ang pagtaas ng inflation sa kuryente, gas, at iba pang fuels na umabot sa 16.9% mula 7.5% noong Marso 2026.

Samantala, tumaas din ang food inflation sa 6.1% mula 2.7%. Mas mataas ang naitalang inflation sa bigas na umabot sa 13.7% mula 3.5%, kasabay ng mas mabilis na pagtaas ng presyo ng isda (9.4% mula 6.6%) at gulay (10.4% mula 7.0%).

Ayon kay Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan, pinaiigting ng pamahalaan ang pagpapatupad ng mga targeted na hakbang upang maging kontrolado ang pagtaas ng presyo ng pagkain, enerhiya, at transportasyon, habang tinitiyak ang patuloy na katatagan ng suplay sa loob ng bansa sa gitna ng tensyon sa Middle East na nakakaapekto sa supply chains ng fuel.
