Yesterday, I spent the day with some educators and non-teaching staff of Mary Our Help Technical Institute for Women - Cebu in Minglanilla, sharing a session on ā€œCreating Safe Spaces in Schools: Staff Self-Care & Mental Health First Aid for Students.ā€ Schools are more than classrooms—they are spaces where students should feel safe, seen, and valued, and that starts with the adults who hold space for them every day.

We talked about staff self-care, boundaries, and what it means to pour from a cup that is not empty. We also walked through simple mental health first aid skills for students: noticing early signs of distress, listening without judgment, offering basic reassurance, and connecting them to the right kind of help. These small, practical steps can help turn schools into genuine safe spaces for healing, growth, and resilience.

My heart felt so full being reunited with an old friend who now serves there, and getting to learn from new faces, too. They were so kind and so open, and I honestly walked away feeling like I was the one who learned from them. After the session, they surprised me with an appreciation card and even invited me to a hearty lunch in celebration of their feast day of Mary Our Help—a beautiful reminder of community, generosity, and grace.

In moments like this, I am reminded how deeply blessed I am to do this kind of work: to sit with stories, to equip the ā€œfirst respondersā€ in our schools, and to be part of creating safe spaces for the next generation. This is more than a job; it is a calling, and I am grateful that God allows me to serve in this way.

Happy International HR Day!

Today, we celebrate the heart of every organization—its people—and the HR professionals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support, guide, and empower them.
HR is more than policies and processes. It’s about building cultures, nurturing growth, resolving challenges, and creating workplaces where people can thrive.

To all my fellow HR practitioners, thank you for the passion, empathy, and resilience you bring every day. Your work truly makes a difference.

I witnessed magic happen — God’s work unfolding right before my eyes.

Most of the real work for us happened before NAC46, serving quietly with the Technical & Digital / Social Media team as we helped prepare for this very big gathering of the faithful with more than 6,000 delegates from all over. To be part of a great team, each one faithfully doing different tasks but all moving toward one goal — to glorify God — was deeply humbling and incredibly moving.

As a People and Purpose Coach, moments like this remind me why I do what I do: part of my purpose is to help people find meaning in their work, and part of my own meaning is to serve God wherever He places me — whether in the boardroom, the training room, or behind the scenes of a conference.

During the actual NAC46 on May 15 and 16, we were simply witnessing via livestream, yet we could feel the Holy Spirit flowing through every talk, worship moment, testimony, and quiet act of service, reminding me that no service is too small for God and no role is unseen by Him.

Grateful beyond words for the opportunity to serve this wonderful and big community. This one is truly for the books — and a beautiful reminder that when we align our purpose with God’s, He weaves even our simplest ā€œyesā€ into His greater story.

Session 5 of our Hiluna Safe Circles: Gen Z Edition was truly something special. This time, we explored a topic that may seem simple but carries lifelong impact—how to choose great friends… and just as important, how to become one.

Friendship, especially at this stage in their lives, is not just about companionship. It shapes decisions, influences values, and quietly molds their growth and maturity. I shared with them that the people we allow into our inner circle can either draw us closer to who we are meant to be—or pull us away from it. That’s why discernment and self-awareness matter so much.

What moved me the most was seeing how these young individuals are beginning to live this out. I’ve witnessed them becoming more open, more supportive, and more intentional with one another. Walls are slowly coming down, conversations are becoming deeper, and trust is being built. It’s beautiful to see a safe space turning into a genuine circle of connection.

Moments like this remind me that this program is not just about teaching—it’s also about learning. Their honesty, courage, and willingness to grow speak volumes. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside them in this journey.

Truly, God is at work in their lives, and I’m humbled to be part of it.

ā€œThank you for that beautiful question, Philippinesā€¦ā€

Inspired by the question from the recent Miss Universe Philippines, I decided to tweak it a little bit and give my answer.

Q: Many Filipinos are frustrated with the country today. For you, is it still worth serving the Philippines?

A:
I am often asked about my stance on politics, and my honest answer is this: I am apolitical, meaning I don’t align myself with any political party or color. I may be apolitical, but I am never anti‑Philippines. I choose not to wear any political color because right now I struggle to find any person or party that fully reflects the values I hold dear—integrity, truth, justice, and genuine concern for people, especially when so many Filipinos already see our politics as grabe kasamok (very chaotic).

Staying non‑partisan also matters in my work in HR and coaching. People can only process their stress, fears, and frustrations safely when they know I am there for them, not for any camp.

But politics is not the whole Philippines.

The Philippines is not just whoever sits in power or trends in the news. The Philippines is our families, our workers, our OFWs, our jeepney drivers, our teachers, our children—the very people whose mental health, livelihoods, and dignity are affected by all this noise. It is the quiet kindness of strangers, the courage of those who stand for truth, and the resilience of people who keep getting back up after every storm.

That is why, even in frustration, it is still worth serving the Philippines.

As a People and Purpose Coach and HR practitioner, I serve by shaping leaders who choose conscience over convenience, by protecting mental health in the workplace, and by helping organizations become safer and more humane. I may not write laws or sit in MalacaƱang, but I help create environments where Filipinos can think clearly, feel supported, and lead with integrity—and that, for me, is nation‑building from the inside out.

I am not here to serve imperfect politicians; I am here to serve a people whose dignity, beauty, and hope are far bigger than their government. I choose to be non‑partisan, but not indifferent. I invest my life in forming better leaders, protecting minds and hearts, raising a child with conscience, and serving with integrity—because that is my way of saying to the world, ā€œThis is the real heart of the Filipino.ā€

So yes, I may be apolitical… but my love for the Philippines will always be quietly, consistently, unapologetically in favor of its people.

And I... thank you!

Grateful and honored to be featured by Sanapo's blog called Longspoon with their theme ā€œSeeking the Good of Othersā€ with faith through community, entrepreneurship, and development.

In our work, it’s easy to focus on behavior—what we see, what we experience, what we need to correct.

But more often than not, behavior is just the surface.

Behind it are stories we don’t immediately see—fear, pressure, uncertainty, or something deeply personal that a person is quietly carrying.

This feature is a reflection of what I continue to learn in both HR and coaching: when we choose to pause, listen, and understand, we don’t just address issues—we create space for people to heal, grow, and show up better.

This is also why Hiluna exists—because people don’t just need to be managed or trained. They need to be heard and understood.

Thank you, Longspoon, for highlighting stories that remind us to seek the good in others.

Learn to believe in yourself. ✨

If you could believe in Santa Claus for 8 years, you can choose to believe in yourself for the next 5 minutes.

You already know how to believe in something you couldn’t see.
Now it’s time to use that same faith on the person God is growing you into.

Here’s a simple ā€œbelieve in meā€ ritual you can do whenever self-doubt gets loud:

- Pause and breathe
Close your eyes, inhale slowly, and exhale slowly.
You can pray: ā€œLord, quiet my fears. Help me see myself the way You see me.ā€

- Place your hand on your heart
Feel it beating and say the following:
ā€œFor the next 5 minutes, I choose to stand with myself, not against myself.ā€

- Take one small, brave step
Send the message you’ve been avoiding.
Work on the task you’ve been delaying.
Write one honest sentence in your journal or planner.

- Seal it with truth
Tell yourself: ā€œI am a work in progress, but I am not a lost cause. I am growing.ā€

You don’t need a lifetime of confidence today.
You just need 5 minutes of courage and the willingness to be kinder to yourself than your fears.

For the next 5 minutes, be on your own side. You’ve got this—and by God’s grace, you’re going to be okay. šŸ’›
