āThank you for that beautiful question, Philippinesā¦ā
Inspired by the question from the recent Miss Universe Philippines, I decided to tweak it a little bit and give my answer.
Q: Many Filipinos are frustrated with the country today. For you, is it still worth serving the Philippines?
A:
I am often asked about my stance on politics, and my honest answer is this: I am apolitical, meaning I donāt align myself with any political party or color. I may be apolitical, but I am never antiāPhilippines. I choose not to wear any political color because right now I struggle to find any person or party that fully reflects the values I hold dearāintegrity, truth, justice, and genuine concern for people, especially when so many Filipinos already see our politics as grabe kasamok (very chaotic).
Staying nonāpartisan also matters in my work in HR and coaching. People can only process their stress, fears, and frustrations safely when they know I am there for them, not for any camp.
But politics is not the whole Philippines.
The Philippines is not just whoever sits in power or trends in the news. The Philippines is our families, our workers, our OFWs, our jeepney drivers, our teachers, our childrenāthe very people whose mental health, livelihoods, and dignity are affected by all this noise. It is the quiet kindness of strangers, the courage of those who stand for truth, and the resilience of people who keep getting back up after every storm.
That is why, even in frustration, it is still worth serving the Philippines.
As a People and Purpose Coach and HR practitioner, I serve by shaping leaders who choose conscience over convenience, by protecting mental health in the workplace, and by helping organizations become safer and more humane. I may not write laws or sit in MalacaƱang, but I help create environments where Filipinos can think clearly, feel supported, and lead with integrityāand that, for me, is nationābuilding from the inside out.
I am not here to serve imperfect politicians; I am here to serve a people whose dignity, beauty, and hope are far bigger than their government. I choose to be nonāpartisan, but not indifferent. I invest my life in forming better leaders, protecting minds and hearts, raising a child with conscience, and serving with integrityābecause that is my way of saying to the world, āThis is the real heart of the Filipino.ā
So yes, I may be apolitical⦠but my love for the Philippines will always be quietly, consistently, unapologetically in favor of its people.
And I... thank you!
