And that's June everybody! (Well... Almost, we've only got a couple days until it's over and I just wanted to finally show everyone what has transpired in the office these past few weeks.)
This month, an incredibly promising group made up of computer and mechatronics students complimenting a ragtag team of computer science students started their On-the-Job Training with us. They've been working on learning self-driving and embedded systems, digital fabrication, electronics, robotics, and CAD modelling. A PC that can run away from you is among one of the things they've made so far. In addition, the CpE student among them, who is also our volunteer, saw substantial progress in his coin sorting machine for the University's Finance and Accounting office~ (Great job, Chris!)
Along side our motley OJT crew started the Immersion Program of some Philippine Science High School students at CIT-U, eight of them with us. These brave souls so far have conquered the gauntlet of basic Laser Cutting, 3D Printing, and CNC Machining operation, and are on track to adding Electronics and Programming to their growing skillset.
During the month's last Saturday, Non-Academic Scholars from the University's Learning Resource and Activity Center attended the week's 3D printing training session. They were administered the same content from our Badging Program, though were awarded with certificates instead of badges in this cross-departmental collaboration between our offices.
Speaking of badges, pictured last in this post's photos are two of our program's first triple-badge holders wearing the emblems of their new skills around their necks.
