Summer Escape Awaits at Emerging Campsite in Boljoon
Have you decided where to spend your summer?
Tucked in the scenic highlands of the Municipality of Boljoon, known for its pristine white beaches and centuries-old heritage church, a new outdoor destination is quietly gaining attention—an undiscovered campsite located just before Ablayan Peak in Barangay Lower Becerril.
Just a 15-minute drive from the town proper and a 20-minute uphill climb, the site opens to an estimated 3,000-square-meter flat terrain surrounded by lush greenery and mountain views, offering a refreshing alternative for adventure seekers and nature lovers.
According to Iste Sesante Leopoldo of The Right Access Digital Solutions Inc, the property traces its roots to her grandparents, Germanico Romero Sesante and Pilar Niere Medida-Sesante. The land was later inherited by the late Maximo “Boy” Sesante and his family.
“I already sought permission from my uncle’s family for us to conduct camping activities in the area and assess its potential, especially if it can accommodate larger camping expeditions in the future,” Sesante-Leopoldo shared.
An ocular visit was conducted by Manny Medida, who noted that while a portion of the area was affected by a landslide in 2017, the site is currently considered safe based on his regular visits and familiarity with the terrain.
Barangay Lower Becerril Captain Lloyd Fuentes expressed support for the initiative, highlighting the growing tourism developments in the upland community.
“I am here to support whatever endeavor our constituents plan. We are ready to provide security and assistance because they are our partners in promoting the tourism potential of our barangay,” Fuentes said.
Barangay Lower Becerril is already home to well-known mountain destinations such as Ohana Mountain Resort and Cairo Mountain Resort, which have drawn visitors seeking cool mountain air and panoramic views.
With another campsite in the works, Boljoon continues to expand its tourism offerings—from heritage and beach escapes to mountain adventures—proving that this southern Cebu town is more than just a historic landmark, but a year-round destination for exploration and relaxation.
