A preview of an ongoing initiative to bring more structure, visibility, and actionable insights into the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process through an Internal Audit lens.

This setup integrates key touchpoints — from procurement planning to payment and accounting — into a single view, enabling internal audit to assess the full process rather than isolated transactions.

It also supports the shift toward continuous auditing. With real-time data, audit activities no longer need to rely solely on period-end reviews or post-transaction checks. Potential issues can be identified earlier, trends can be monitored proactively, and insights can be delivered when they are most relevant.

Internal audit’s role extends beyond transactional review. It plays a critical function in identifying risks, strengthening internal controls, and improving systems and processes across the organization. As part of the third line of defense, internal audit contributes to stronger governance, accountability, and decision-making.

Still a work in progress, this initiative forms part of a broader vision of building a complete Internal Audit Management ecosystem—reframing how internal audit can create value in government through the use of the right tools.
