1989 Davao City: San Pedro, Ilustre, City Hall, and Mayor Duterte?

​Several locations in Davao City were featured in the 1989 Regal Films movie, "Handa na ang Hukay Mo, Calida." The film tells the story of the former Davao Police Commission Chief, Lt. Col. Franco Calida, and his intense fight alongside the Alsa Masa against communist rebels who were active in the city at the time.

​The film features scenes set in streets like San Pedro and Ilustre, as well as Davao City Hall. It even includes what appears to be a cameo by former Mayor Rody Duterte—or at least his look-alike.

However, the target completion may be extended to September 2030 due to funding constraints, according to the Regional Project Monitoring Committee-Davao Region.

Delays are attributed to rising costs linked to the Middle East crisis and limited availability of imported equipment, although construction will continue progressing.

Matud ni Councilor Bonz Andrei Militar, chairperson sa Committee on Information and Technology, ang bag-ong sistema kabahin sa SERAL-CARED system, nga gi-aprubahan sa City Council niadtong Nobyembre 2025, ug tumong niini nga mas mapadali ang dispatch ug matubag ang kalisud sa pagtultol sa lokasyon sa mga tawag.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) led the destruction of hundreds of modified mufflers and improvised firecrackers, such as lantaka, at the Camp Capt. Domingo Leonor Parade Grounds in Davao City. The DCPO also warned motorcycle riders still using modified mufflers to surrender them to their respective barangay officials.
