DIGOS City – The Department of Health (DOH) has downgraded last month the functional capacity level of Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital from a ‘Level II Hospital’ to a mere ‘INFIRMARY”.
The Department of Health cited failure and non-compliance of the Provincial Government of Davao del Sur, the owner of the Provincial Hospital, to comply with the requirements for the renewal of the hospital’s license to operate as a ‘Level II’ hospital.
The Department of Health cited ‘Non-Compliance” on three main items, deficiencies that were not resolved by the provincial hospital, namely: 1. Failure to get renewal of license to operate the Medical X-Ray Facilities and Pharmacy, 2. Failure to post the hospital services’ prices at [email protected] , and; 3. Failure to upgrade the hospital’s ambulance service from category type I to category type II.
The decision of the Department of Health to downgrade the functional capacity level of the provincial hospital, is contained in a letter dated January 24, 2022, signed by Dra. Teodora M. Eugenio, MD, MHA, OIC-Director of the Health Facilities and Regulatory Board (HFRB) of the Department of Health, and addressed to Dr. Marcelo T. Razo, MD, FICS, Chief of Hospital of Davao del Sur, informing him of “non-compliance” that led to the DOH decision to downgrade, to quote, “your hospital functional capacity is hereby downgraded from level II to INFIRMARY”.
The Health Facilities and Services Regulatory Board (HFSRB) of the Department of Health subsequently issued a downgraded license to the Provincial Government of Davao del Sur, owner of the Provincial Hospital, a license to operate its hospital as an ‘INFIRMARY’ under License Number 11-0411-221-1, with effectivity date of operation starting January 20, 2022, duly signed by Atty. Nicolas B. Lutero III, CESO III, Director IV of HFSRB. (STARNews Network)
