Ultima-C Sodium Ascorbate Vitamin C is remarkably an effective form of Vitamin C needed by everybody even those suffering from chronic illnesses such as cancer and AIDS. Ultima C Sodium Ascorbate vitamin C enters the bloodstream and tissue five to eight times faster than ordinary Vitamin C, moves into blood cells more effectively and also stays on the body tissue longer. The level of Vitamin C in the white blood cells is achieved by taking sodium ascorbate vitamin which is two to seven times higher than those with ordinary Vitamin C.
Sodium Ascorbate powder is natural and non acidic form of Vitamin C. It has intrinsic antiviral and antibacterial activities though its main effect is the improvement in host resistance. Sodium Ascorbate may be beneficial in general immunity boosting, helping to ward off or prevents colds and flu, assisting the healing wounds aiding in fighting infections etc.
Sodium Ascorbate provides an average between 8 to 10 capsules of Vitamin C which is recommended for general immunity daily. If you are experiencing cold symptoms, it is suggested to take 8 to 10 capsules per hour. If this dosage is started in the early stages of a cold, it will often fail to develop. If the cold already developed, this treatment will usually lessen the effect of the cold, and speeds recovery. Dissolving the powder in water is the preferred method of consumption.
Sodium Ascorbate is used to avoid acidity by sensitive persons. In refractory case of allergy and asthma, Sodium Ascorbate C was proven more effective than ascorbic acid.
Sodium Ascorbate can be added to many foods such as milk and soup without affecting taste. It is also used as a sugar free, additive free, substitute for toothpaste. Since Sodium Ascorbate is usually used for mega dosage of Vitamin C, it is not offered in tablet since a large intake would result.
Following an earlier work on high dosage vitamin C, it became apparent that a very significant role was played by the inorganic ion sodium when used as the salt of vitamin C, also the depression of the sodium levels may play an important role in kidney blockage from drugs and sulfur group.
Thus the availability of Sodium Ascorbate gave us an important agent in acid base equilibrium – said Dr. Simon L. Ruskin M.D.
Sodium plays a vital role in connection with the normal metabolism of the adrenal cortex.
One could consider that adrenal cortical hormone. Sodium and Vitamin C bear reciprocal relationship to each other.
Sodium is an electrolyte. It controls the excessive flow of cellular fluids and maintains the pH level at 7.2.
When we are sick, we tend to dehydrate so we lose sodium, a basic electrolyte on the body. Dr. Spreen recommends that vitamin C be taken in capsule form or powdered. Sodium Ascorbate makes conductivity level of our body to go up and recovery level goes faster. The idea of sodium is to buffer the acidity so that it will not irritate the stomach or intestine.
A HEALTHY REMINDER!
When sick, take 2 capsules every hour until you have reached the level of Gastric Tolerance. Then gradually decrease the dose until you feel better or below the level of your bowel tolerance then return to your daily maintenance.
For children and adults who have difficulty in swallowing capsule, you may open ULTIMA-C capsule and pour in the powder form into glass of water or your favourite beverage.
ULTIMA-C is a super anti-oxidant that strengthens the immune system. It fills the cytoplasm of the white blood cells in order to fight the invading bacteria. Has the ability to strip the protein coating from the virus leaving them protected and allowing the white blood cells to engulf them.
PHARMACOPOEIA:
Monosodium L-Ascorbate is a white or yellowish crystalline powder that dissolves freely in water, but only very slightly in alcohol. The ph of a ten percent solution in water ranges from 7.0 – 8.0. Store in non-metallic airlight container and protect from light.
SAFETY AND TOXICITY:
Scientific evidence over the past decades point to the safety of Vitamin C even in high doses. It is classified as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS).
Sodium Ascorbate exhibits low toxicity since it is water soluble and any excess amount is flushed out through the urine and stoll. According to the Council for Responsible Nutrition, “very large doses of Vitamin C have been taken daily over the course if many years and only minor undesirable effects have been attributed with any certainty to the vitamin’s use.”
SYMPTOMS OF VITAMIN DEFICIENCY:
Scurvy is the condition characterized by irritability, easy bruising and gum bleeding, joint pains, muscle aches, poor weight gain and dry, scaly skin due to chronic lack of Vitamin C.
CONTRAINDICATION:
Since Vit. C promotes the absorption of iron, it is not indicated as supplement in hemochromatosis, a condition of iron overload.
A genetic condition called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase enzyme (G6PD) deficiency may lead to haemolytic anemia with repeated megadoses of Vitamin C Supplementation with high dose Vitamin E may prevent such complication.
INDICATION:
For the treatment and prevention of Vitamin C deficiency.
PRECAUTION:
Patients on low sodium diet and those with kidney impairment are advised to consult with their physician if intending to take more than 1,000mg of Vitamin C a day. Each 1,000mg of Sodium Ascorbate provides 100mg of sodium ion.
For those on anticoagulant therapy, limit dose to not more than 1,000mg a day. The response of diabetic patients with cardiovascular disease to the supplement is not uniform due to differences in genetics (haptoglobin genotype). Until further studies are available, suggested dosage for such patients is 250mg a day.
High dose of Vitamin C is not advised prior to a blood chemistry exam, urinalysis and stool exam, as this may interfere with the results.
Patients who are prone to kidney stines (oxalate) are advised to refrain from high doses of Vitamin C. The risk for stone formation may be lessened with Vitamin B1 and B6 supplementation.
A reversible diarrhea with large doses of Vitamin C can vary with individuals, and is readily corrected with the dose is decreased to tolerable levels.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Oral contraceptives and high dose aspirin can lower plasma levels of Vitamin C. High doses of Vitamin C will decrease the effectiveness of anticoagulants such as warfarin.
STORAGE CONDITION:
Store at temperature not exceeding 30° C.
Protect from heat, light and moisture.
DO NOT REFRIGERATE!
