The American Music Therapy Association defines music therapy as the clinical and evidence-based application of music interventions by licensed professionals to achieve specific goals within a therapeutic relationship. Music therapy sessions may include singing, playing an instrument, da

ncing, writing music, or listening. Participation does not require the possession of musical abilities or skills. Who can benefit? Children - ASD, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy etc. Adults and older adults - with mental health problems, Dementia, substance abuse, Stroke, Cancer, PTSD, Parkinson’s Disease, anxiety disorders etc. What are the benefits? Music therapy enhances communication, social interaction, sensory, physical, cognitive, and emotional skills. It encourages interaction, motivation, and brain access through movement. It also improves memory, learning, executive functioning, and attention, while promoting self-expression and self-esteem.
