Some moments in ultimate are about the scores, the wins, and the highlights. Others remind you why you fell in love with the sport in the first place.
This weekend's clinic in Dumaguete was one of those moments.
Years ago, we were the kids standing on the field, learning our first throws, asking questions, making mistakes, and being patiently guided by the people who introduced us to this game. They taught us more than how to throw a disc—they taught us teamwork, discipline, confidence, and the Spirit of the Game.
We never imagined that one day, we'd be the ones teaching.
And yet, here we are, sharing those same lessons with the children of the very people who once coached, mentored, and believed in us.
Watching their kids learn, laugh, and chase after a flying disc felt surreal. It was a reminder that the impact of a teacher doesn't end when a season is over. It lives on in the people they help shape, in the values they pass down, and in the generations that follow.
This clinic wasn't just about ultimate frisbee. It was about legacy. About gratitude. About seeing the seeds that were planted in us years ago grow into something we can now share with others.
To our former coaches and mentors, thank you for investing your time, patience, and hearts into us. And to your kids, thank you for letting us be a small part of your journey.
What a beautiful full-circle moment—to go from being the students on the field to teaching the next generation of the families who first taught us.
The disc keeps moving, but some lessons never stop flying.
