Posted • The City of Toronto has officially kick-started the holiday season by welcoming its magnificent Christmas tree to Nathan Phillips Square, marking the beginning of the highly anticipated 57th annual Cavalcade of Lights presented by Desjardins Group. Get ready for an enchanting experience from November 25 to January 7, 2024!
This year's stunning 16.75-meter (55-foot) white spruce tree, grown in Baldwin, Ontario, will take approximately eight hours to install. After three settling days, it will be adorned with over 500 ornaments, adding a dazzling touch to the holiday ambiance. And don't worry about waste—the tree will be recycled into mulch for springtime tree planting.
On November 25, from 3 to 11 p.m., you're invited to join the opening night festivities at Nathan Phillips Square! Enjoy an array of FREE special programming, including captivating skating presentations, mesmerizing art installations, delectable food vendors, and live performances that represent over 15 communities and cultures. The highlight of the evening will be the ceremonial countdown to the tree lighting, sponsored by Toronto Hydro, taking place at 6:30 p.m.
Inspired by Christmas, winter solstice, and light festivals worldwide, Cavalcade of Lights transforms Toronto City Hall and its surroundings into a downtown winter wonderland. Marvel at the breathtaking display of 300,000 energy-efficient twinkling lights, interactive exhibits, and festive décor that will illuminate Toronto's iconic public skating rink at Nathan Phillips Square.
