Pax Silica is a U.S.-led economic security initiative designed to strengthen and develop a global supply chain for artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor technologies. The Philippines is one of 24 countries that have signed on to the initiative.
As part of its participation in Pax Silica, the Philippines is considering the development of a 1,600-hectare AI-focused industrial hub in New Clark City, Tarlac. The proposed hub is expected to support the processing of the country’s critical minerals and the production of advanced components needed for AI and semiconductor technologies.
The initiative is also projected to generate employment and increase government revenues through three major sectors: AI processing, semiconductor manufacturing, and mining.
Question: Are you in favor of establishing the Pax Silica hub in the Philippines? Why or why not?
