I haven't bought a single one in years—and honestly, I don't think I ever will again.
It all started with one little bush I picked up on a whim. I did a bit of research and learned that blueberries love acidic soil, so I mixed in some pine needles and coffee grounds, gave them a sunny spot, and watched them take off. The trick? Propagating new plants from softwood cuttings every spring. It’s ridiculously easy once you get the hang of it.
Now I’ve got a whole corner of the yard filled with blueberry bushes. They bloom beautifully in spring, feed us all summer, and turn a gorgeous red in the fall. I freeze gallons of berries, make jam, toss them into everything from pancakes to salads... and the best part? I never have to run to the store for them again.
