This public engagement is the second step following the initial Education Information Campaign, which aimed to raise awareness among residents, business owners, and local stakeholders within the designated impact zone.
The project involves the development of a state-of-the-art Treatment, Storage, and Disposal (TSD) facility designed for comprehensive waste containment, resource recovery, and environmentally safe disposal of municipal solid waste. The facility will be strategically situated at the existing landfill at San Pablo, Cauayan City, Isabela, to serve Cauayan and adjacent municipalities.
The session offered an in-depth overview of the projectโs potential environmental impacts, including emissions, potential contamination, and habitat disruption, as well as its social and economic benefits such as job creation, local infrastructure improvements, and sustainable waste management practices. This transparent dialogue aimed to foster community trust, gather feedback, and address concerns.
SUSTECHโs cutting-edge recycling and waste processing technology emphasizes the efficient separation and conversion of daily municipal refuse into reusable materials, thereby promoting sustainable urban development, reducing landfill burden, and advancing environmental conservation goals in the region.
