Types of Data: Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, and Ratio β When to Use Them?
Understanding the four measurement levels is a fundamental step in research and data analysis. Each type determines the statistical tests you can apply and how data should be interpreted. Let's break them down:
1. Nominal Data β Labels or categories without any meaningful order.
2. Ordinal Data β Categories with a meaningful order, but the difference between values is not uniform.
3. Interval Data β Ordered data with equal intervals between values, but no absolute zero.
4. Ratio Data β Ordered data with equal intervals and an absolute zero, allowing meaningful ratios.
