Capilli We create social, economic, and environmental value from human waste hair.

Recognizing the potential of waste hair, Capilli aims to contribute to the circular economy by seeking opportunities for material innovation. Hopefully creating a ripple effect of positive change to the community through employment generation and the environment through sustainable strategies — one hair strand at a time.

Developed under Youth Co:Lab, a regional programme co-led by UNDP and Citi Foundation, the study highlights the role of an ecosystem of entrepreneurial support organizations in providing training, opening access and opportunities for market and funding, and creating enabling environment and youth-friendly policies for Filipino youth entrepreneurs to start, manage, and grow their businesses. The study was conducted by Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) Asia and shaped by the voices of young entrepreneurs, government stakeholders, and ecosystem partners.

Using Youth Co:Lab’s 6-Domain Framework on Entrepreneurship, the study mapped the current state of youth entrepreneurship ecosystem in the country, highlighting opportunities, persistent barriers, and areas where stronger support is needed. It also explored critical issues such as access to finance, regulatory hurdles, and the availability of long-term mentorship. The study calls policymakers, government and development partners, youth advocates, and other youth entrepreneurship champions to collectively act in strengthening the ecosystem for Filipino youth entrepreneurs.

Science in Action: How These Bulacan HS Students are Reimagining Oil Spill Cleanup 🌊🧪

It is truly inspiring to see what happens when young, brilliant minds look at environmental challenges through a new lens! 💡

We are incredibly proud to feature the work of Daniel, Remiah, and Jovie — three talented student researchers from the City of San Jose del Monte National Science High School. They reached out to us at Capilli with a vision to tackle marine oil spills, and after months of dedicated research and testing, they successfully defended their study! 🎓✨

Their project, "Oil Mess Gone (OMG)," explores a powerful, eco-friendly solution for our oceans. By combining the natural oil-wicking properties of human hair with cogon grass, they developed a biofelt sorption mat designed to clean up spills without the need for harsh chemicals or synthetic plastics. 🌿💇‍♂️

The results were fantastic! The prototypes demonstrated an impressive ability to trap oil with high efficiency while staying perfectly afloat throughout testing, even when fully saturated. 🧽 Most importantly, the team proved that these mats are both sustainable and reusable across multiple cycles, offering a durable, circular alternative to traditional synthetic materials. ♻️

Seeing these students bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world innovation is exactly why we love collaborating with the youth and student-researchers. This is more than just a school project; it’s a glimpse into the future of sustainable tech in the Philippines. 🇵🇭🔬

Huge congratulations to the team and CSJDMNSHS for this success! We are honored to have played a part in your journey. 👏🙌

On this Day of Valor, we honor the courage of our heroes who fought for our nation’s freedom. Today, we are called to a different kind of battle - the fight to protect our environment.

True heroism lives on when we choose to care for our land, reduce waste, and stand for a sustainable future.

The courage of the past becomes the responsibility of the present. 🇵🇭🌱

This Holy Week, may we find the courage to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with what truly matters. In every sacrifice, there is purpose and in every moment of pain, there is the promise of something greater. 🙏

From local food and music to job opportunities and learning, it was inspiring to see communities come together and celebrate shared growth. 🌿

Capilli was glad to be part of the PHIVIDEC Open House Exhibit Year 3 in support of San Roque Handmade MPC, who joined the event through the support of SPI Power Inc. (formerly STEAG State Power Inc.).

As the makers of our hair mats, we showed up to support the people and hands behind the work we believe in. ♻️

Daghang salamat for having us. Here’s to building more connections that turn ideas into impact.

A single strand of hair may seem insignificant, but when recycled, it can contribute to a much bigger environmental solution. Small waste, big impact. 🌏

Today, we remember the power of collective action. When people come together with purpose, change becomes possible.

May we carry that same spirit into how we care for one another — and for our shared home. 🇵🇭
