The Mari Effect

Some students become more than just names on a calendar.

Over time, you learn about their dreams, struggles, goals, and victories. You celebrate their progress, worry when life gets difficult, and quietly cheer when they achieve something they once thought was out of reach.

Recently, one of my students shared that one of the achievements he hopes to look back on proudly in the future is his investment in learning English.

That simple statement stayed with me.

It reminded me that language learning is rarely just about language. It's about confidence, opportunities, growth, and becoming the person we hope to be.

I wrote a reflection on what meaningful teaching has taught me and why some of the most important lessons happen beyond vocabulary and grammar.

💡 A realization from my Google Digital Marketing journey...

I've had digital marketing courses sitting in my Udemy library for quite some time.

Like many lifelong learners, I collected courses with the intention of taking them "someday." But it wasn't until now, while working through Google's Fundamentals of Digital Marketing course, that something truly clicked.

I realized digital marketing isn't just for businesses.

It's for personal brands too.

For years, I've focused on building my skills, serving clients, running businesses, and creating opportunities. What I didn't fully appreciate was how important it is to intentionally communicate that value, tell my story, and create a consistent brand experience.

Digital marketing isn't just about social media, SEO, or advertising.

It's about understanding who you help, what makes you different, and how you connect with the people you serve.

As I continue building The Mari Effect, I'm beginning to see how all the pieces fit together—my experience, my businesses, my content, my website, and my long-term vision.

Sometimes the most valuable lesson isn't learning something new.

It's finally understanding why it matters.

A small milestone worth celebrating! 🎉

Recently, Preply recognized my first 50 lessons taught. 💙

I've actually taught a few more lessons since reaching this milestone, and I'm grateful to see my calendar slowly filling up and students continuing their learning journey with me through renewed subscriptions.

What makes this even more special is that it happened within a relatively short period of time. Looking back, it's amazing to see how much can grow from simply showing up consistently, learning, improving, and giving your best each day.

Still, I wanted to pause for a moment and celebrate this small but meaningful win. ✨

To some, 50 lessons may seem like a small number, but for me, each lesson represents a conversation, a connection, a learning experience, my own personal growth, and a student who trusted me to be part of their English journey.

Over these lessons, I've met amazing learners from different backgrounds and from different countries, helped students build confidence in speaking, discussed everything from business and startups to travel, culture, and everyday life, and learned so much as a tutor along the way.

One thing I've realized is that the best lessons aren't just about grammar and vocabulary—they're about helping people express themselves more confidently and comfortably.
