LEYTE, Philippines — Grand Terra Mining Resources Inc. (GTMRI) has successfully produced the first pure nickel metal from Philippine laterite ores using an innovative leach and electrowinning process at its demo plant in Leyte, marking a major milestone in local mineral processing. President Leoben Evangelista called it “a great achievement for the Philippines,” highlighting the breakthrough use of vat leaching and EMEW electrolysis to produce LME-grade nickel metal.
