The Philippine Association of Engineering Schools (PAES) invites all engineering faculty members, administrators, and academic leaders to join FREE Webinar No. 3 entitled “AI in Engineering Education: Issues, Risks, and Directions.”
This webinar will discuss the emerging role of artificial intelligence in engineering education, with emphasis on curriculum and learning, assessment and academic integrity, faculty roles and governance, and responsible AI adoption toward future-ready engineering programs.

The Philippine Association of Engineering Schools (PAES), Inc. proudly announced its official recognition and partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), marking a significant milestone in advancing engineering education in the country.
This landmark achievement highlighted the appointment of the six distinguished PAES officers to serve as members of CHED Technical Panels for the period 2025–2028. Their appointments underscore the growing influence of PAES in shaping national policies and academic standards in engineering and engineering technology programs.
The newly appointed members are:
•Dr. Romano Neyra, PAES President, Senior Director for Engineering, FEU Institute of Technology — Technical Panel for Engineering Technology
•Dr. Arnold Paglinawan, PAES 1st Vice-President, Dean of the School of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering, Mapúa University — Technical Panel for Manufacturing Engineering

The first Board of Directors Meeting of the Council of Deans of Engineering Schools, Negros Island Region and Western Visayas (𝗖𝗢𝗗𝗘𝗦- 𝗡𝗜𝗥𝗪𝗩), for Fiscal Year 2026–2027 was successfully convened and marked an encouraging start to the term.

The meeting brought together the different committee chairpersons, who presented key issues and concerns affecting 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 in the region. These discussions covered, but were not limited to, 𝑔𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒, 𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦 𝑓𝑎𝑐𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠, 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑐ℎ, 𝑓𝑎𝑐𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑦 𝑑𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑝𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, 𝑐𝑢𝑟𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑢𝑙𝑢𝑚 𝑒𝑛ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, 𝑙𝑖𝑏𝑟𝑎𝑟𝑦 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑐𝑒𝑠, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑐𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠 impacting the delivery of quality engineering education.

In response to the identified concerns, the Council has begun envisioning and formulating programs and initiatives aimed at addressing these challenges and elevating the overall quality of engineering education in the region. The Council likewise reaffirmed its strong commitment to work closely with the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃) and the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 (𝐏𝐀𝐄𝐒), ensuring that regional concerns are effectively communicated and that meaningful collaboration extends beyond regional boundaries.

With a shared sense of purpose and cooperation, the Council looks forward to a productive and impactful year ahead.
