The Ministry of Employment and Labor (Minister Jeong-sik Lee) is promoting the expedited entry of foreign workers who have been delayed due to the impact of COVID-19.
26,000 foreign workers who have not been able to enter the country for the past two years are given priority to enter the country by August in order to resolve the manpower shortage in the field due to COVID-19.
In addition, after the employment permit was issued this year, the 28,000 people who have not entered the country will be allowed to enter the country within the year, spurring a total of more than 73,000 people to enter the country by the end of this year.
To this end, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, decided to simplify the procedure for reissuing the visa issuance certificate by extending the validity period of the visa issuance certificate issued to business owners from 6 months to 1 year. From July, according to the promotion plan for the early normalization of international flights (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport), it plans to operate aircraft according to demand.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor is planning to hold a meeting (June) with labor officials from the sending country with a large number of waiting people so that foreign workers whose entry is delayed due to local circumstances can enter Korea promptly and actively ask for cooperation.
