Enforcers of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) apprehended over 12,000 vehicles in the continuing strict implementation of the โNo Registration, No Travelโ policy across the country for the month of July this year.
LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II lauded Regional Directors and other LTO officials for their aggressive operations against unregistered vehicles, saying this is in line with the advocacy of Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista to ensure the safety of all road users.
Assec Mendoza said it is only through the registration of vehicles that the road worthiness of a vehicle is guaranteed, citing its importance particularly for the vehicles being used for public transportation.
โMagpapatuloy ang ating agresibong kampanya laban sa mga delinquent vehicle owners. I would like to remind our motorists that vehicle ownership comes with an obligation to register and renew the registration,โ said Assec Mendoza.
Based on the LTO data, a total of 11,521 of the apprehended vehicles were issued with traffic violation tickets while a toital of 1,531 were impounded.
Assec Mendoza said those apprehended include 1,478 private vans and 23 vans being used for public transportation while 355 trucks and 95 SUVs were also apprehended.
On the other hand, 69 public utility jeepneys and eight buses being used for public transportation were apprehended.
A total of 7,459 motorcycles and 1,936 tricycles were also apprehended.
Based on the data, LTO Calabarzon has the most number of apprehended unregistered vehicles with 5,204 apprehensions and 403 impoundment of vehicles.
Meanwhile, a total of 223 vehicles were apprehended for the month of July during the aggressive anti-colorum drive.
Assec Mendoza said a total of 176 of them were impounded.
Earlier, Assec Mendoza instructed all LTO Regional Directors that vehicle impounded in anti-colorum drive need a court order before they are released to the ownersโwhich is part of the aggressive campaign to protect legitimate operators and drivers. #
