LOOK đź‘€: On March 3, 2026, the Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA) were officially launched, marking a significant milestone in advancing sustainable farming initiatives.

The event highlighted strong collaboration among partner agencies, including the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute Region XII, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office Region XII, the Department of Trade and Industry Region XII, the Province of Cotabato led by Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza, and the City Government of Kidapawan.

Among the recognized sites is the ACCG Buzzing Garden in Barangay Balindog, a hub for integrated organic farming that promotes stingless bee propagation to support biodiversity and sustainable agriculture.

Through the leadership of the City Agriculturist’s Office and its technical team, these learning sites are set to serve as “classrooms in the field,” empowering farmers and aspiring agripreneurs in the city.

Stingless bees (Tetragonula biroi), known in Tagalog as lukot or kiwot, produce honey, propolis, and pollen. Their hives are reportedly low-cost and low-maintenance, making them relatively easy to care for and nurture.

Tetragonula laeviceps is a stingless bee species found in tropical and subtropical regions of Southeast Asia. It produces honey, propolis, and pollen, and nests in places like tree trunks and bamboo. This bee is valued for its role in pollination and honey production.

Apis cerana, also known as the Asian or eastern honey bee, is native to South, Southeast, and East Asia. It is a social bee species used for honey production and pollination for thousands of years. It builds multi-comb nests in cavities and adapts well to different climates.
