Dreams come true. It was a dream about managing a restaurant which she also owns. Today, CHERYL C. ACOBA manages PERSONAZ RESTAURANT which she co-owns with KAREN VALLESTEROS, her sister.

CHERYL and KAREN are 2004 graduates in industrial education, with specializations in technology and livelihood education, and food technology, respectively. After graduation, CHERYL chose to be an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Hongkong, and KAREN became a public school teacher.

CHERYL came home at the height of the virus pandemic last year, and opened PERSONAZ RESTAURANT in October 2021. The restaurant, which is located at Brgy. 6 along Jose P. Rizal Street, :Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, is the newest destination for dine in services and catering bookings for all events and celebrations.

The “Pasuquin Biscocho”, a post-war bread roll laced with the slightly salty and spicy scent of anise which is only available at Pasuquin Bakery, is very popular to residents and tourists of Ilocos Norte.

Mr. LORD JIM B. IGNACIO, a 2016 graduate in industrial technology (foods), came out with his own version of “biscocho” (bread roll) enriched with dragon fruit. It was the output of his food product development research as required in his subject, “Project Study”. His study used experimental design, more specifically on sensory experiment.

LORD JIM’s family business, JIMELA’S BAKERY now produces and sells plain “biscocho”, garlic “biscocho”, and onion “biscocho”. The bakery is located at Brgy, Ligaya of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.

The virus pandemic has slowed life, but construction activities have progressed. The construction business is not only a pandemic-proof enterprise; on the upside, construction holds much potential to stimulate recovery of the economy.

Mr. REYGIE A. BARIT owns and manages RABB WORKS AND CONSTRUCTION SUPPLY which is located at Sitio Nagmarcaan of Brgy. San Marcelino, Dingras, Ilocos Norte. The business offers services in the preparation of building plans (signed and sealed); structural analysis and design; electrical, mechanical, sanitary/plumbing plans; remodeling and renovation plans. It also sells construction materials. The venture was launched at the height of the virus pandemic, and is celebrating its first year anniversary of operation this month.

REYGIE, after graduating in 2013 in industrial technology (drafting), worked as draftsman at the MARIANO MARCOS STATE UNIVERSITY, City of Batac, Ilocos Norte.

Mr. BOBBY PEDRO S. AGUSTIN, JR, aside from his full time work at LEXUS, owns and operates GAIJIN GARAGE in Honolulu, Hawaii, The business provides repair and maintenance services of vehicles. On the drawing board is GAIJIN GARAGE in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.

BOBBY is a graduate in industrial technology, major in automotive technology, in 2008. He was a scholar and on-the-job trainee of TOYOTA. He was employed as technician by TOYOTA DAGUPAN, and sent to overseas training at TOYOPET in Sendai, the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.

His enterprise is named GAIJIN GARAGE because he was then called “gaijin”, a Japanese word for foreigners and non-citizens in Japan,

He was fascinated with motorcycles in his elementary grades; tinkered with his father’s motorcycle, and assembled his own motorbike from scrap in high school years. His allowance during his college studies was augmented by doing motorcycle mechanic jobs.

Mr. RALPH JESTER B. VALDEZ now owns and manages MOTOPASUQUIN AND VALDEZ MOTOWERKZ located at #18 Biak na Bato St., Poblacion 1, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. The business engages in sales of oils and lubricants, parts and accessories, repair and maintenance services of motorcycles.

After graduating in industrial technology (electronics communication) in 2011, RALPH JESTER worked at GMA, CNN Philippines, and ABS-CBN. Meantime, he ventured into sales of parts and accessories of motorcycles. He lost his job as cameraman because of the closure of ABS-CBN during the virus pandemic.

When a door closes, another door opens at the right time. RALPH JESTER now devotes full time in his enterprise and has expanded its operation. A more spacious and accessible shop and store is now being constructed along a national highway to serve more clients.

RALPH JESTER is supported and assisted in decision-making and in the practical day-to-day involvement in the operation of the family enterprise by his wife, Ms. JEANETTE T. VALDEZ, a 2009 graduate in industrial technology (foods).

Ms. KRISTINE ANGEL B. BUMANGLAG, who was then working at PICTURE CITY as graphic editor, lost her job because of the virus pandemic. When one door closes, another one opens!

KRISTINE then decided to expand her sideline in online selling into a wholesale and retail online store, ZEIAH'S FOOD PRODUCTS TRADING named after her daughter. She and her husband, EDWIN JEFF BUMANGLAG, decided to invest the money they are saving for the future of their daughter for the expansion.

KRISTINE and JEFF, who are entrepreneurial couples, are graduates of industrial technology (drafting) in 2014. Their wholesale and retail venture proved to be a pandemic-proof enterprise. They are now looking for a larger and more accessible place to further expand their operation. Their skills in drafting technology are put into good use in creating graphic materials to advertise and promote their business online.
