After chasing pike all morning we stopped at the mouth of this stream feeding into the Lake. Such beautiful, crystal clear water that allows you to see everything (almost). We spotted and nice rainbow, and a char, right away. I made a cast upstream and quickly discovered a third fish we hadn’t seen. This Arctic Grayling was a nice surprise!

It’d been over 30 years since I last chased pike. My guide, Alex, had identified a few ponds and bays where he suspected pike would be, but hadn’t tested it yet. I love exploring new areas and was all in. A 90 minute boat ride, and 10 min of pulling our boat through grass, and we were there! Solid black and white streamers got their attention. Great day with in Alaska.

Arctic Char are the strongest pulling freshwater fish I’ve ever battled with a fly rod, wow! What a surprise and what a blast. Some put a bend in my 8wt rod like I’ve never seen before. Stripping streamers for Arctic Char is a must-do again! Thank you for a fantastic week.
