𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐃𝐓𝐈 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐏𝐂𝐂 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐚

On August 13, 2025, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Siquijor Provincial Office, headed by OIC Provincial Director Ms. Bebelyn T. Borongan, attended the regular session of the Sangguniang Bayan of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Larena, Siquijor.

During the session, Ms. Borongan presented and thoroughly discussed the proposal for the reactivation of the Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) in the municipality. She explained that the LPCC is an inter-agency body mandated to monitor market conditions, evaluate supply situations, and coordinate timely measures to stabilize the supply and prices of basic necessities and prime commodities—particularly in times of emergencies, disasters, or other crisis situations that may affect consumer access to essential goods.

Ms. Borongan stressed that the reactivation of the LPCC is a vital step in enhancing the municipality’s capability to protect consumers, prevent hoarding and profiteering, and ensure the observance of fair trade practices. She further emphasized that with a functional and active LPCC, LGU Larena will be better prepared to respond promptly to price-related issues, maintain market stability, and safeguard the welfare of both consumers and local businesses.

The presentation was positively received by the members of the Sangguniang Bayan, who acknowledged the importance of the council in maintaining economic resilience and promoting a fair, competitive marketplace within the municipality.

🌟 DTI Siquijor Empowers Taculing Multi-Purpose Cooperative! 🌟

On August 27, 2025, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Siquijor successfully conducted the training “Pricing It Right: A Practical Guide to Costing and Profit Margins” for the members of the Taculing Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

This meaningful activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of cooperative members in determining the right pricing strategies, accurate costing, and effective profit margin management. By equipping them with these essential tools, DTI continues to support MSMEs in ensuring business sustainability, competitiveness, and growth.

Through this training, participants gained valuable insights on how proper costing and pricing directly impact profitability and long-term success. More than just numbers, it is about empowering entrepreneurs to make informed financial decisions for their enterprises.
