How should we maximize our solar energy with the varying seasons? 🌤️☔❄️
There are three seasons that we should take note of: summer, rainy, and winter. Although we don’t actually experience winter in the Philippines, we do have cool/humid seasons such as Amihan.
DRY SEASONS / SUMMER (March–May)
🌤️ Peak Output: Long daylight hours and intense sunshine deliver the highest overall yearly energy generation.
🌤️ Heat Drop: Extreme surface heat causes a slight drop in electrical efficiency (voltage loss).
🌤️ Dust Build-up: Extended dry weather allows dust and grime to accumulate, slightly blocking sunlight.
WET / RAINY SEASONS (June–November)
☔ Lower Yields: Heavy clouds and storms reduce output to 10% to 25% of optimal capacity, though panels still capture diffuse light.
☔ Cooling Effect: Rain cools down overheated panels, temporarily boosting their electrical efficiency.
☔ Natural Cleaning: Heavy downpours wash away accumulated dust and debris, restoring panel clarity.
WINTER / COOL SEASONS (December–February)
❄️ Ideal Temperatures: The Amihan breeze keeps ambient temperatures cooler, helping panels operate at higher efficiency without summer overheating.
❄️ Balanced Generation: Although days are shorter and the sun sits at a lower angle, the pleasant weather yields stable, reliable performance.
Because of all this Varying Seasons, we must provide maintenance to our solar panels to maximize its energy production throughout the year, such tips would be;
✅ Regular Cleaning: Wash away dust at the end of the dry season to maintain maximum clarity.
✅ Ensure Ventilation: Leave space under roof panels for airflow to prevent heat-induced efficiency loss.
✅ Prune Nearby Trees: Keep branches trimmed to prevent shadows from blocking sunlight as the sun shifts.
✅ Use Battery Storage: Store excess summer energy to power your home through cloudy rainy days.
