President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has accepted the resignation of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago and named Assistant Director Lito Magno as the agency’s officer-in-charge.

The development was confirmed by Palace Press Officer Claire Castro during a media briefing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Santiago earlier tendered his resignation in August, citing personal concerns and alleged efforts by detractors to tarnish his reputation.

Santiago, who was appointed in June 2024, will be succeeded by Magno as the NBI continues its mandate under the Department of Justice to lead criminal investigations and anti-corruption efforts nationwide.
