Groundwater Resources Investigation
(GWRI) and Geo-Resistivity Survey -

A Groundwater Resources Investigation (GWRI) is a scientific assessment conducted to determine the availability, depth, quantity, and potential yield of groundwater in a specific area. One of the primary methods used is the Geo-Resistivity Survey, which measures the electrical resistivity of subsurface materials to identify possible aquifers and groundwater-bearing formations.

Important: A geo-resistivity survey does not directly detect water. It identifies underground geological formations that are likely to contain groundwater based on their electrical properties.

Why Some Geo-Resistivity Surveys Are Inaccurate?

Inaccurate results are usually caused by poor survey implementation rather than the equipment itself. Common reasons include:

* Poor survey planning and site selection
* Incorrect electrode spacing or survey layout
* Poor electrode contact with the ground
* Electrical interference from nearby power lines or buried utilities
* Lack of geological and hydrogeological assessment
* Incorrect data processing and interpretation
* Inexperienced personnel conducting or interpreting the survey

Is the Equipment the Problem?

Not necessarily. Modern resistivity instruments are highly reliable when properly calibrated and operated. The accuracy of the survey depends more on the competence of the survey team, proper field procedures, data quality, and professional interpretation than on the equipment alone.

Standard Procedure

1. Conduct geological and hydrogeological assessment.
2. Perform site reconnaissance and select appropriate survey lines.
3. Set up and calibrate the resistivity equipment.
4. Acquire field data using the appropriate electrode array and spacing.
5. Process the data using inversion software.
6. Interpret the results alongside geological information.
7. Recommend the most suitable drilling location and target depth.

Through the vision and generosity of NAIG Foundation, this life-changing project has become a reality—bringing hope to one of the country’s most remote island communities.

Homonhon Island, located in Eastern Samar, is best known in Philippine history as the first landing site of Ferdinand Magellan in 1521. While rich in history, the island has long faced the challenges of isolation, making access to basic necessities such as clean water and electricity a daily struggle for its residents.

Recognizing these challenges, AQUATRUE ENTERPRISE proudly accepted the responsibility of bringing sustainable solutions to the community. Despite the rough waves, difficult logistics, and off-grid location, our team remains committed to delivering quality service because we believe that every Filipino deserves access to life’s most essential needs, regardless of where they live.

This transformative project includes the installation of a Water Purification System, a pre-fabricated facility, and a 12kW Hybrid Solar Power System that will provide reliable 24/7 electricity to operate the entire system. Powered by clean and renewable energy, the project will ensure a continuous supply of safe drinking water for the students of the National High School and the surrounding community.

This is more than an infrastructure project—it is a promise of better health, improved education, and a brighter future. Every drop of clean water and every light powered by the solar system represents hope, resilience, and the power of collaboration.
