On March 25, a project review was conducted at the National Crop Protection Center by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquaculture and Natural Resources Research and Development for the program Harnessing Adaptive Responses and Best Practices against Armyworms and other Lepidopterous Insect Pests using Science and Technology (HARABUST).

Among the projects presented was “Evaluation of Pheromone and Light Trapping Systems for Monitoring and Controlling Fall Armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)”, led by John Julius Manuben, highlighting ongoing efforts to develop science-based solutions for effective pest monitoring and management.

The National Crop Protection Center was awarded a Plaque of Appreciation for its commitment and sustained partnership with the College of Agriculture and Food Science as a Host Training Establishment (HTE) in the student internship program.

The recognition underscores the role of HTEs in student development through mentorship and training.

The University of the Philippines congratulates its faculty, researchers, and staff who were honored by the Civil Service Commission with the 2025 Gawad Lingkod Bayani for their dedication, leadership, and outstanding contributions as public servants.

Dalisay Lopez, a laboratory aide at the Pesticide Management Division of the UP Los Baños National Crop Protection Center, was among the 24 government employees recognized with the Gawad Lingkod Bayan ng Pangulo. She has contributed over four decades of reliable and indispensable support to the NCPC’s research and extension efforts.

The UP Diliman Pathogen-Host-Environment Interactions Research Laboratory was also among the six teams awarded with Gawad Lingkod Bayan ng Pangulo. The team, led by Prof. Windell Rivera together with university researchers Jonah Feliza Mora and Mae Ashley Nacario, is known for their pioneering work as the first and only laboratory in the Philippines dedicated to the understanding, detection, and control of protozoan infections.

Isang taos-pusong pagbati mula sa Pesticide Management Division para kay Ms. Dalisay S. Lopez, tumanggap ng Gawad Lingkod Bayan ng Pangulo. Iginawad ngayong Enero 28, 2026 sa Malacañang ang parangal bilang pagkilala sa kanyang dedikadong paglilingkod sa National Crop Protection Center, partikular sa pagsusulong ng food safety at sa kanyang mahalagang ambag sa pagsasanay ng iba’t ibang stakeholders sa buong bansa sa paggamit ng Rapid Test Kits bilang bahagi ng kanyang gawain sa Pesticide Toxicology and Chemistry Laboratory.

Congratulations to our very own Dalisay Lopez! 🏆

Earlier today, Ms. Lopez was recognized as regional awardee of the Honor Awards Program of the Civil Service Commission. The award was given during the Regional Gawad Lingkod Bayani Awarding Ceremony at Clark, Pampanga.

Ms. Lopez, Laboratory Aide II at the Pesticide Management Division of NCPC, has contributed over four decades of service in support of the Center's research and extension efforts.

Indeed, a well-deserved recognition for a dedicated public servant!

The Pesticide Management Division extends its warmest congratulations to its personnel, and former student interns from the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) for successfully passing the Chemists and Chemical Technicians Licensure Examinations! 🎉

We also proudly celebrate UPLB’s recognition as the Top Performing School in the 2025 Chemists Licensure Examination, a testament to the university’s commitment to academic excellence and scientific training.
